Starting character question

By daddystabz, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

In Force & Destiny each starting player can choose an option to represent their past experiences in the galaxy and can use it to gain extra credits to purchase additional gear, additional xp, etc. It does not list a cost to Morality in order to gain these advantages though. So does this mean each starting character remains at 50 Morality but can automatically choose one of these options? I ask because to do this kind of stuff in Edge of the Empire I remembered that the group had to take on additional Obligation, which is detrimental to the party.

I think it means they have to pick an additional emotional weakness. But I don't have the book at hand.

Page 49 FaD CRB details the options. Unless the player selects the last option on the page, their Morality will always start at 50. Morality is different than obligation and plays differently. The impact on the party occurs with destiny points when the players hit paragon levels.

Correct, 50 Morality and you can pick your bonuses, or you can start dark or light instead.

Because of how Morality and the light/dark thing work you kinda have to go this way. If it were like Ob/Duty where you have to spend down Morality to get bonuses and you'll find players starting darkside all the time just to get the extra XP/Money...
