Admonition

By BigBearCDN, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hey all,

Just wanted to clarify Admonition for my own peace of mind.

1) Enemy Attacks

2) Mc-30 spends an Evade to cancel/reroll

3) MC-30 discards spent Evade token to cancel an attack dice.

I cant read anywhere in the rules where this would be illegal but it does seem funny to use a token once then use it a second time to triiger Admonition's ability.

Yup. Perfectly allowed. You are only spending the token once and then discarding it not spending it again.

The rule is that you can only spend one of each type of token, not discard.

Sweet Lyraeus thanks.

Everyone talks up Foresight but I'm thinkin Admonition paired with Mothma is gonna be tough to kill to. Maybe Walex will go along for the ride too ;)

The two are equally balanced. They're fantastic at their own ranges, and outside of that, the other is better...

Foresight, for example, is best at Long Range (And Medium Range with Mon Mothma), with the Optimal Benefit of Two Cancelled Dice . However, at Short Range without Mon Mothma, the title is completely ineffective.

Admonition has an additional penalty of discarding a defense token , however, that makes it As Effective at a higher Cost at Long Range, or Medium Range with Mon Mothma...

However, Admonition has a tangible benefit at Short Range, where Foresight might not have any effect at all . The trade off being, its technically more expensive at Long Range for the same effect, as it still involves that Discard.

Which is why I feel both Upgrades were pointed the same points costs.

Foresight still has an effect at short range, still got that poor mans advanced projectors thing going

Foresight and Admonition both pair well with Mon Mothma for obvious reasons It's important to realize that especially Admonition needs ECMs to handle the increased rate of token discarding vs accuracy results in subsequent turns. Most players should seriously consider discarding the Redirects before any Evades are removed.

However, if something would cause you to discard a token (Intel Officers, Nk-7s, a critical effect) that resolves before Admonition does.

Incorrect...

Only the Intel Officer takes place immediately after the Token is Spent.

NK-7s are a Critical Effect, and all critical effects take place after Defense Tokens are Spent during the "Spend Defense Tokens Step".

Apologies, that is current. What I meant there was that both effects must resolve separately. So in the case of Intel Officer, you resolve IO, then resolve Admonition, then resolve any other similar effects that result from a critical effect such as NK-7.
