My Balls-to-the-Wall Theory About Supreme Leader Snoke

By Torobasa, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Assuming Snoke is Darth Plagueis:

- The scar on his face is from Palpatine trying to kill him with a lightsaber.

- Somehow he did not die when Palps supposedly killed him.

- In episode III, Palps mentions that Plagueis could use the force to create life. Some have suggested the possibility that Plagueis "fathered" Anakin Skywalker through the force given that he "has no father". Whatever be the anomaly that spawned Anakin, it had given him an extremely powerful connection to the force, as noted by Qui-gon and Obi-wan. Who else has a powerful connection to the force? Well.... Rey. She didn't even need a teacher to learn how to pull mind tricks on stormtroopers and telekinetically grab a lightsaber out of the snow. If Snoke is Plagueis, I think it is reasonable to consider that he created Rey, especially concerning the mystery around her parents.

- Snoke's Wookiepedia article says that he values the "balance of the force". The prequels frame Darth Vader's killing of old palps in episode VI as "bringing balance to the force" (the whole prophecy of the chosen one thing).

So that's my insane theory that probably isn't true. I thought it would at least be an interesting idea to share.

It's not the worst theory, as theories go (apart from the creating Rey part :P).

But I doubt it, nobody would know who Darth Plagueis is, except for a handful of obsessed fans. He was only a bit of a throwaway line in RotS after all.

Apart from that, we know nothing about him so they'd have to delve into the EU for that. And doing that, you might as well make him a clone of the Emperor.

That's a stretch. Darth Plagueis is a great read, shedding some light on the Emperor's early days. But the revelation of him having cloned himself - and the ability to possess his clones - was far from the EU's finest hour.

I noticed I wrote confusingly, talking about two different people using 'him'. :P.

We know nothing about Plagueis apart from that small anecdote in RotS, for more you'd have to go use the Legends EU (not that I'm opposed to that, necessarily).

If you're going to use the Legends EU, you might as well take from the Dark Empire comics, which are quite likely more well known (with World Devastators and all that) and take the Clone Emperor as the basis for Snoke.

I doubt either will be used, which is a shame. I would've loved to see the Eclipse on screen.

I actually think that Snorkels is some buddy of luke; when luke opened his "jedi high school", maybe Snoke was a teacher/mentor figure, too. perhaps fell to the darkside, perhaps always was there, he corrupted some students like kylo and opted for "revolution"; then swung himself to power in the FO etc..

well, just some idea to connect the dots, as kylo is "the link" between snorkels and luke.

As long as he's not suposed to be Darth Talon, I'm happy. ;)

Eclipse

The emperor's clone would however open up a way to include Luke's severed hand into the storyline. His saber was found, what happened to that clone source material?

So Snorkels (good name!) is a clone of Luke, twisted to the Dark Side?

Rey is a clone if Leia, created at Leia's infancy and then hatched 30 odd years later?

Hmmm, don't no about the Harry Potteresque Supreme Leader, but Rey probably is the obviously presented kiddo of Luke Skywalker.

They hired Andy Serkis for a reason.

For the ultimate crossover event, Snoke will become:

Gollum-lord-of-the-rings-4521464-275-205

The LOTR/SW crossover merchandise will make Trillions.

I can't wait to see King Aragorn wielding a light saber.

And the dogfight between the Nazgûl and T-85's are going to blow your socks off.

And then there will be touching scene as Frodo gives his mithril chainmail to Poe.

Whoops, forget to add Spoiler Alert to this reply.

But it's all going to happen and it's going to mind-blowing.

I like this, but not the rest of it. There's more evidence that connects Snoke to Plagueis floating around the interwebs for a few days.... the music.

The music during the Plagueis speech in ep3 is very similar to the one used in ep8 for Snoke.

Coincidence? possibly. Fun? Yes.

This is true. I'm a fairly obsessed fan and I barely know who Plagueis is. But you know, for the mass audience, only a single line of dialog would be needed to define him:

Snoke: "The Emperor was weak, he failed to destroy the Republic just as he failed to destroy me!"

I don't think it would be Plagueis. This guy puposely dropped ancient Sith traditions. In the prequels Plagueis, for what little mention he gets, is the embodyment of ancient Sith lore. The Bane line is gone, destroyed by Luke. These guys are a new order of dark side users. Maybe they will adapt the name Sith at some point, but for now they aren't.

Sure, in his book he wanted to repel the rule of two, but only to evolve the Sith order. It doesn't quite suit him to not be a Sith in name when he has risen to such a position of power. I also belive (although this is minor and might not be right, my memory isn't perfect) that Plagueis has been said to be a Muun even in new canon, specificaly Tarkin. There is a paragraph where Palpatine is in contact with 11-4D, which I think makes reference to "his former Muun master" or something of the sort. Might be wrong, I don't have the book with me right now.

I got to the first line in the OP and said 'nope!'

Let's take it even further.

Snoke is Darth Plagueis and Plagueis is Anakin Skywalker's biological father.

Shmi was Sith Mind tricked into believing it was midichlorians.

And to deepen the plot, Midi-chlorians are an invention of the Jedi to confuse common folk out of figuring out how they really get their powers!
