Feldherr MAXI Bag for Star Wars Armada Wave 2

By Swusn, in Star Wars: Armada

Has anyone purchased the Wave 2 Feldherr bag? I am thinking about getting it but looking at the pictures on their website I cannot figure out which components would fit in what cutouts.

Can someone post pictures of their ships/components in the foam?

The wave 2 bag doesnt actually release until January. I will say that the wace one bag is amazeballs and im definetely getting the wave 2 one.

Preordered the wave 2 bag! Already have the previous One and loved it!

Let me throw in that I have one of the Feldherr wave 1 bags, and it's great. The advantages, for me:

  1. It doesn't look stupid. The problem I have with a lot of model bags is I would be walking around midtown NYC in a suit with a bag that has WARHAMMER written on the side and is designed like a 3-year old's idea of what is AWESOME.
  2. It fits the ships exceptionally well. I could carry my entire 300pt Imperial and Rebel fleet, plus all dice, rules, tokens, etc, easily in a very slim bag.
  3. Surprisingly tough, I say, after having dropped mine repeatedly with everything being fine.

So far, no complaints.

That is good, I ordered the wave one bag and will most likely order the wave 2 bag once it comes out, I am just not able to visualize how all the ships will fit in. The VSD and MC80 are pretty self explanitory but I do not see any cut outs for the Raider or MC30, Nor do I understand what all the other cut outs are for.

I guess I will just have to wait until it is released and figure it out :D

The MC30 and raider fit into the little rectangle slots with the bases going into the base section. There are also slots for rogue and villain squadrons which might be where you are getting confused.

I wish I could actually use these. . . I have so much stuff. . .

Actually. . . Someone who is used to Feldherr's current lines (I am not up to date), what is the best way to fit 3 ISD's, 3 MC80s, 3 MC30's, 3 Assault Frigates, 3 Gladiators, 4 VSD's, 5 Nebulon-B's, 5 CR90's, 5 Raiders, 40 R&V's, and 84 normal squadrons. Oh and associated tokens and such. (a Space for my space rocks would be nice as well)

Need as few bags as possible.

The major issue is that you have odd numbers of a lot of stuff. Feldherr's cutouts generally accommodate 2 of any given ship. I have the same issue. What I'm doing is that I have the Wave 1 maxi, and I'm ordering the wave 2 maxi. The Plastic case that comes in the wave 1 Maxi bag should be able to handle all your tokens, for the most part. The space rocks could maybe go in the pluck foam tray that comes with the wave one bag.

This tray https://www.feldherr.net/hsbe050bo002-foam-tray-for-star-wars-armada-ships/a-53536/holds the squadrons. What I do, is instead of leaving them attached, is keep the squadrons attached to the top tree part and keep several of them in the top, with the bases in the bottom. You will likely need a few of these given the sheer number of squadrons you have. It could probably also handle the space rocks, but I never bring mine anywhere.

IMO, were I you, I would pick up one maxi of each wave 1 and 2, or if you want, you can buy the wave 1 and 2 rebel/imperial split bags. See what fits, then set up a custom bag for the remainder. I think your collection will require three bags to fit comfortably.

I actually want to keep the bag discreet as well. I live an hour away from my FLGS with my office being about halfway in between them. When I go to play after work I take my models with me when I leave in the morning. I do not want to leave them in my car in South Florida due to the possibility of extreme heat warping the plastic so I take them into my office with me.

Having a bag that stands out or is unusual would be unprofessional or I would constantly have co-workers asking about it which would be a constant distraction throughout the day. Having a bag that does not cause a distraction in my workplace is preferable :)

Would you wear this to work if you were a financial professional? Would that engender trust in people who were allowing you to manage large risks?

The problem is things looking loud, garish, or outlandish, period. Sometimes there is a value to looking professional.

Edit: to be clear, I'm not ragging on Russell Westbrook here - dude has a great sense of style. It's just that context matters for clothing and accessories.

3 bags. . . mer. . . Hmmmmm what about instead of using the 3 bags I just load everything into the Transporter with M boxes? Seems like I could get all the models in a few of the M Boxes and use the Transporter to get them around. I would have room for expansion as well.

Hmmm this also sastifies my need to have someplace for my CR90's that have had their pegs broken to sleep as well. . . hmmmm

It is sad that I could spend the $220 for free shipping pretty easily. . .

That might just work better Lyr. But I've never seen that in person so I honestly have no idea. I can only speak of the maxi bags.

Well I guess I have to try it out and let everyone know then eh? I just have to contact them and see what I would need. . .

So. . . Rough needs and cost for my collection. . . Transporter ($48), Wave 1 Box ($42), Wave 2 box ($42), Pluck Foam with bottom pad ($9.50), Nebulon ($5.50), Raider ($7), MC30 ($7), and 8 squadron foams ($56). . . oh and 2 cases ($20)

Seconding this as a high school teacher.

I wear a nondescript suit and carry a black shoulder bag to work. All of my social media accounts are clean as a whistle. I never post photos of me, or use my real name on any internet forum.

I do not want the students to know a single ******* thing about my life that I don't explicitly tell them. I play Armada with one of the other teachers at school during lunch sometimes. I do not want the students to know what we do in our leisure time unless it directly benefits my professional relationship with them to do so.

I use a Feldherr Transporter bag with no boxes (foam trays directly inside) and it easily fits my entire collection - nowhere near as big as Lyr's, but still:

2 VSD

2 ISD

2 GSD

4 Raider

3 Imperial Squadrons sets

1 Home One (there's room for a second one)

2 AFMK1

2 MC30

2 Neb-B

2 CR90

2 Rebel Squadrons sets

1 R&V set

2 Compartment boxes which fit all the tokens, dials and tools

Several custom ships (2 Interdictors, 1 Arquitens, 1 Neb-B2, 4 Dreadnaughts, 8 squadrons)

...and a Space Rocks set.

How does it handle the rain?

I've never put it to that test, but it feels rather water resistant. I wouldn't worry about it unless it rains heavily all the time. In which case nothing in the market will meet your needs.

Feldherr, deutsche, field master, i.e. commander-in-chief.

I like it.

I live in Portland Oregon where winter is a rainy season. . .

You say this like spring, summer, and fall aren't...

I already have a maxi sized for my wave on stuff. I just ordered ans am waiting for a transporter sized. I love that we can now buy bags empty and purchase the trays we need. They now have a fighter tray which I ordered 3 of. Having spent the money on the models, I not going to scrimp on keeping them safe.

Love my wave 1 bag but I'll wait till their US shop gets it in. I actually need to buy one of the smaller bags for the rest of my stuff! That doesn't even count X-Wing.
