A Mels Miniatures question....

By Lord Ashram, in Star Wars: Armada

The peg is larger than that on the normal FFG flight stand.

I know mel sells a single model flight stand that (probably) is the same size as these, but it is not even a little bit difficult to shave down the existing peg to fit into one of the FFG flight stands. Just a quick shave makes them fit well.

I have the Lambda shuttle and it works great as a JM 5k replacement.

OHHHH man I can't wait for Mel to make an Upsilon shuttle!

even though the peg on the shuttle is larger than the one on the flying base, the shuttle's peg is conical and so they slot in nicely. Once everything is painted black (and even if it's not) it's almost impossible to notice any discontinuity unless the model is both upside-down and less than a foot from your face.

On the ones I got from Mel, the peg is conical to a degree, but has a flat tip that is wider than the opening of the standard R&V peg hole.

But a little trim fixes it either way.

Okay, so I can just use a few extra squadron stands to mount these guys? Good to know. Thanks all!

Use the outside section of the clickable ball point pens to primer these. The cheap plastic ones that twist to extend the tip work perfectly. The peg snugs in nicely.
