with the emperor wampa is slipping a damage card though every turn and can take evades or barrel rolls since his attacks need no boosts. takes enougn heat off fell for him to get around and the omega is free to do whatever since he is lowest priority but is surprisingly resiliant late game

I like it for sure - but from my own experience and discussion with others, I increasingly think Palpatine is best with only 2 ships to try and assist - at most.

I also really find the Palp Shuttle is best if you can make room for Sensor Jammer - which pretty much screws with the enemy who tries to go after Palp.

With your current list..

  • The damage threat in your list is really Soontir, who also is very likely to shoot first
  • But because you will want to use Wampa, you won't give the Palp crits on attacks from Soontir, unless you know Wampa has no shot, or after Wampa is dead
  • After Soontir, your next PS is 4, so the enemy will likely have 1-2 attacks before your PS4 pilots attack
  • Depending on who they attack, you might be very tempted to use Palp defensively, (especially if it was Soontir who would lose SD on a hit)
  • IMO, this means you are using Palpatine mostly as a defensive first-resort, and offensive fall-back
  • Wouldn't it be better to just be more offensive?

At least that's my train of thought after mucking around with these sort of builds for a bit.

In the end, as much as i love Wampa/ Palpatine, I think the PapaWamaShuShu combo is probably a minor theme - perhaps with a Decimator.

Soontir + PapShuttle + another Ace is pretty great though - especially if you can make room for the Sensor Jammer.

All that said, your build does look fun to try - give it a shot!

I was able to throw some damage onto poe first round of combat and wampa got fried the second but their whole firing line going after a 14 point ship in a full jousting round makes him even more worth it at 14 points. Wampa is literally a higher priority target than anything else at that point so you get a damage or two under the shields of an ace and a round or two of not taking the full brint of the enemy firing line on your other ships.

just a thought.

colzet wampa palp would be hilarious if it tabled corran or whisper first round of shooting with a direct hit. both colzet and corrans ability's say at the start of the end phase though so I imagine corran would still be able to double tap

Depends on which player has initiative. You resolve 'start of' abilities in initiative order.

I don't think wampa dying in the first round of shooting has made him worth his points. You would have to have gained some kind of favourable board position in the process, so it depends on your approach. The fact that you can count on your opponent focussing down wampa first is helpful though in planning your approach...
