Hey everyone-

I just got the X-Wing Miniatures core set for Christmas. It has The Force Awakens references on the box, so I assume it is the latest printing of the core set. It looks great so far, but as it only has 3 ships (1 x-wing and 2 tie fighters), I'd like to flesh it out more to have a bigger experience.

My question is, what would the best way to expand the collection to a reasonable number of ships? I play Netrunner, Warhammer 40k Conquest, and other such games, so I'm somewhat familiar with the LCG format, and was wondering how similar they were. Are there "Deluxe expansions" that I should get?

My goal is to fill out the ships I have so that I could support a fun, balanced experience with the ships / cards available to me. I don't necessarily need to jump right into super competitive play at first, I just want to be able to have a self-contained game experience to play with friends. Though, if I like it, I wouldn't mind getting into competitive play eventually, so purchases that will lead to competitive decks (squads?) eventually would be prioritized.

With so many ships out there available, I'm a bit overwhelmed. If you guys had one core and ~$100 to spend on expansions to make a more robust collection, what would you buy first? Any other tips for getting in the game would be very appreciated too!
