So here's a handful of lightsaber crystals that I've been sitting on for a while.

Sounds painful
So a follow-up to my Christmas article of homebrewed kyber crystals. The process isn't easy to make a synthetic kyber crystal, but for a Force and Destiny PC, it could be the only means to obtain a valuable kyber crystal during the Empire's reign.

1 question, I am planing on using these rules to let my force sensitive player create a synthetic crystal, but he wants a cracked one and according to your rules you need a despair. So can you please help?
I'm actually surprised the synth crystal creation hasn't already been outlined in RAW. Considering how much the books brow-beat you into the whole "all crystal sites known by the jedi are under imperial blockade". Even Luke was forced to use one when crafting his second lightsaber.

According to these mechanics, the typical crystal starts out Dmg 6, Crit 2 with 3 Dmg +1 mods available (Dmg 9 total).
The flawed crystal starts out Dmg 7, Crit 2 with 2 Dmg +1 mods (Dmg 9 total).
If you roll a Triumph or 3 Advantages during crafting, you can select 1 mod to apply right away for free.
Which means rather than purposely try to make a Flawed crystal for the higher Dmg, you could hope to roll well enough to make an ordinary one and include 1 of the Dmg mods.

Actually ithink he chose to use a synthetic crystal (if that's still canon, we never knew that form the movies) because he had no idea where to get a natural crystal. If he knew a location he'd probably try to go there. I think it's also possible that Obi-Wan had a few "spare" kyber crystals recovered from the temple on Coruscant before leaving the planet.
Besides i think that the Sentinel career book will have rules for crafting a synth crystal for the artisans out there.

It's pretty much what bkoran said.
The intent of the process from the POV of the character, they're trying to create a perfect synthetic crystal. However, bear in mind that the flawed crystal always has the chance of a Despair, as the difficulty to modify it is upgraded once. And if that Despair comes up, the crystal is destroyed as per the rules on modifying attachments. One element I thought of adding but opted not to was to include that if the lightsaber is destroyed via a double Triumph, there's zero chance of salvaging the crystal.
I'd say ask the player why specifically he's after the flawed crystal as opposed to a proper synthetic one. If it's just the boost in damage, then bkoran's advice is solid, since if the PC has a high enough Discipline and Willpower, he's got a decent chance of getting a Triumph or the 3 Advantage in order to get the free mod, putting their damage values on even keel.
If its' because he wants the lightsaber blade to look like Kylo Ren's, then I'd say let him have it and describe it as being the result of a minor impurity that has zero mechanical effect.
