Getting back into the game

By Zuntir, in X-Wing

Hello,

I started playing X-wing around wave 2 and bought pretty much everything that was released up to wave 3(including wave 3). I stopped playing and buying also due to lack of time but now i decided to get back into the game. Question is, which ships do you guys recommend to buy that add the most to the game? I can afford to buy 1 big expansion + 1 small one or 3 small ones.

Here's list of expansions i already have(obviously, i own the old core set):

X-wing

Tie Fighter

Tie Interceptor

TIe Advanced

Tie Bomber

Y wing

A-wing

B-wing

Hwk 290

Slave I

Milennium Falcon

Lambda Shuttle

Imperial Aces

Depends.

If you want to add Scum to your collection grab a Most Wanted expansion- it'll probably give you the most bang for your buck as you already have a Y-wing, Firespray, and Hawk. After the Most Wanted I'd pick up an Aggressor, it's a good ship and even with just one you can have fun by mixing it up with the other Scum stuff.

If you want Imperial or Rebel, I'd recommend getting the new core set. Updated rules/rules reference and the new TIE/fo and T-70 are fun to play.

My advice is similar but after Most Wanted - get a Rebel Z-95. This allows you to "recycle" the scum Z-95s in casual play via proxy.

The new core set is good as well - get any Imp/Reb that strikes your fancy after.

I would suggest Rebel Aces. It will gives you a second A-Wing and B-Wing. But more importantly, it gives a good boost to the A-Wing with the Chaardan Refit and Prototype Veteran title. The B-Wing is still one of the best ship in the game.

Then the single expension depends if you want to specialise with Rebels or give Imperial another boost.

I would personally go with the new T-70 expension. The ship is great and it comes with Integrated Astromech Mod, which will help your standard X-Wing also. Or the Z-95 to bring a good filler to your rebel fleet.

If you prefer to help your Empire side a little, a Tie Phantom will bring even more arc dodging to your playbook, but be aware that the decloaking rule has changed, you can find the new one in the FAQ. Or you could take a Defender to bring some more muscle to your side, but a Veteran pack is coming in 2016, so if you don't plan to own 2 of the ship, you might be better to wait for the Veteran pack, coming with some nice new titles for the ship.

Or, like Ikka said, just go with a New Core set.

Starviper for the autothrusters, but after that, your imperials are looking pretty decent. Later, the decimator, but it's hard to say whether you want/need it. You could just proxy them if you prefer, and save some money!

yt-2400, e-wing and k-wing for rebels. I don't like Dash, but he's a monster, and a lot of players get a real kick out of playing him. The K gives you a great ship, really fun and flexible (along with two tlt's, the new weapon on the block, and a conner net, the best bomb in the game), and corran in the e-wing is one of the best pilots in the whole game.

Welcome back!

Scum and Villainy if you can get your hands on it. Few Z-95s. Need for the Scum.

A TFA Core and two TIE/FOs.

Alternatively, a Decimator and a Whisper.

I might recommend the TIE Defender, both for the ship, and because it has both Predator and Defender (some of the best EPTs in the game).

The Kihraxz includes Predator, Lightning Reflexes, and the new hotness: Crack Shot.

The Hound's Tooth includes a lot of great stuff too.

If you want fun Imperial stuff, get the Raider online. The TIE Punisher is also a neat little ship that will play differently to everything else.

Extra Munitions FTW. Also Twin Ion Engines Mk. II, and there are two of them.
