Took a quick look and didn't see anything pertaining to this specifically so thought I'd ask. Can a pilot without an ept equip experimental interface to trigger the action use given by youngster? Is his ability granting you a phantom version of the card on all in range ties or is it considered just a not in bar action option?

It's considered a not in bar action so for 15 points you could have an academy pilot that focuses and then marksmanships for a stress token.

I'd argue not. EI lets you use one of your equipped upgrade cards. Youngster's ability doesn't allow anyone else to equip his EPT, it just lets them use the action from it. It stays equipped to Youngster, so EI can't trigger.

That's what I wanted to hear. It's not super effective but looking forward to trying a 5 tie build with youngster having marksmanship then mauler and scourge with ptl and backstabber with ei. Backstabber was my sticking point because I wanted to make sure he got the goods with everyone else. Also rounded out with an epsilon leader to clear stress, not a tie I know but the points were right and those are some stressed ties.

That is the answer. EI can't trigger a card equipped to another ship. Youngster just gives you the ACTION not the card.
