Hey! Have been out of x wing for a while and recently gone back in. Last purchase was the gr 75 last newyear.

I love flying a tooled up keyan farlander, but can't decide on his escort into battle.

My original one that i played last year was this:

keyan+ PTL+ HLC + Bwing/E2+ luke skywalker crew + sensor jammer 51 pts

2 x Gold squadron pilot + r2 + ion cannon turret 2x 24

total 99

Now i have been looking at fitting R3-A2 into the list. The easy thing to do is just add him to a y wing, as i have a point left over. However i really like my Y wings with the R2, especially when they will be taking stress, so want to try something else.

So i played around with the following:

keyan+ PTL+ HLC + Bwing/E2+ luke skywalker crew + sensor jammer 51 pts

prototype pilot + chardaan refit 15

wedge + R3-A2+ stealth device 34

total 99

Adds a second damage dealer to the list with a stress dealing ability, and a blocker. Could swap out luke crew for gunner to get wedge an EPT, Not to keen on losing my ion control, but will give it a try.

And third:

keyan+ PTL+ HLC + Bwing/E2+ luke skywalker crew + sensor jammer 51 pts

Gold squadron pilot + r2 + ion cannon turret 24

tarn mison + R3-A2 25

Total 100

Same as above, but downgrading to mison lets me keep one ion Y wing instead of a wing

I will be changing up the list when i get my hands on a mangler cannon card but in the meantime keep flying it!

Honestly, I would drop the HLC and Luke off of Keyan. In today's game, b-wings always die, and by having him buffed that much you're just handing your opponent a lot of mov.

That would give you 15 points to help out the rest of your squad and make them more potent, taking some heat off Keyan and letting him last a bit longer. I'd also consider dropping sensor jammer down to advanced sensors, because AS on b-wings is gold.

Don't be scared to put R3A2 on your Y. That's a big time ship now, and can really lock down a lot of opponent's ships. Put the BTL title, R3, and TLT/Ion on it and double stress ships like crazy.

That would give you 39 points to play with, which is plenty for a big hitter that will take some of the focus off of Keyan and your stresshog.

Well, first problem, i haven't bought anything since the gr 75. So no TLT or BTL title. I decided back in the day that i would limit myself to ships from the original film trilogy, so won't be buying anything else. Really saved my budget

So new cards only come in when i find them on the singles market. Will probably buy a lot after new year.

Tooled up Keyan has always worked for me in the past though, but back then only half the stuff we have now was available, so i'll experience if that changed pretty fast !!

I'm going to adapt to a mangler cannon anyway, when i get it, and that will make him lighter in points:

keyan + PTL + mangler+ advanced sensors comes to 39 points

The list i want to try, if i can get the cards i want:

keyan + PTL + mangler+ advanced sensors 39

wedge + VI + R5-P9 + Stealth device 36

Gold squadron pilot+ R3A2 + ion turret + BTL title 25

100 total

At this point however, it might be better to swap keyan and PTL out for Ten numb and VI, as he works better with mangler cannons
