My X-Wing Wish List

By DirbYh, in X-Wing

1. A title card that gives it the boost action.

2. An Astromech upgrade that gives it a systems slot.

3. A torpedo upgrade that gives it a cannon slot.

Why do you need a title card that gives boost when there's a modification that does the same thing?

Why do you need a title card that gives boost when there's a modification that does the same thing?

Because then you can use autothrusters as a modification instead of engine upgrade. It would basically make the T-65 as playable as the T-70. And considering the X-Wing is the marquee fighter of the game I believe it should always be a top tier option.

Idk about top tier, but the EU fluff made the X-Wing into a Swiss Army Knife of a ship. Even though newer, more specialized ships outclassed the X-Wing in their respective rolls, the X-Wing was not only a generalist ship, but was modified countless times to suit the specific mission requirements.

In a way, this sort of happened with the game. Newer ships came along, the meta changed, but if the X-Wing is given a bunch of retrofit options, it can find a new niche. It wouldn't be the fastest or the toughest, but outfit it right, and it'll be prepared to handle anything. It was the ship's adaptability, not just nostalgia, that kept pilots coming back to the X-Wing rather than fly newer, technically better ships like the A-Wing or B-Wing.

The X-Wing ISN'T a top tier ship, though. It never was. It was good at a great many things, but it was no TIE Defender. The great thing about a points based system is that you can establish the fluff, then give it an appropriate points cost. And i believe it would be extremely poor design to just make the T-65 into a T-70. That's not fun, it doesnt make sense, the T-70 would be irrelevant, and so on. Just give the T-65 some neat titles that allow it to do a number of different things better, and make it the generalist ship it was meant to be. I believe a barrel roll action would be one of those things.

If you say that it is not a top tier ship now, I would agree. Ignoring that at one point in time, before all of the action independent shenanigans, multi-attacks, super repositioning, back when X-wing the game basically had you choose a maneuver and a single action, then I would say that you are mistaken about a great many things. At one point in time X-wings (rookies and Biggs specifically) could almost always plugged in to great squads.

I find myself lamenting about how the X-wing deserves some help in the modern game meta of everything's got TLT or AT on it. IA helped a little more than I expected, but the X-wing is a jouster living in an era where jousting is just not a great strategy.

1. GUNBOAT

2. 0 pt astromech

3. Multiple copies of IA in Rebel Veterans

4. GUNBOAT

The solution to the T-65 is not to give it titles and cards that turn it into the T-70

They'll never make a retroactive *********** like they apparently did with Imperial Assault. They may throw a bone once Rebel Vets hit the shelves, but that's about it.

If Ello Asty was born to ill, then Marius Van Holt, the rebel vet, was born to hunt the most dangerous game of them all. After the Empire closed down his reptile park to use the building as a base of forward operations, he vowed to make the Imperials pay for each dinosaur, snake or turtle that ended up as Stormtrooper stew.
