Unique search tokens

By Dommus, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Thats a really fast question I just cant see the answer anywhere in quests like Cardinal Plight (encounters 1 and 2), the shadow vault, the monster hoard and all those quests that have unique search tokens related to the opening of a door (thats often the meaning of these tokens). If I get the real token revealing the unique item, the other unique search tokens labeled with a "*" in the quest map are considered regular search tokens for the purpose of claiming search cards or they just exist to randomize the chance of getting the unique item?

They are regular search tokens.

Actually I believe you do not treat them like normal. Look at page 10 UL corner under search. It says that the default is to not draw a search card. A lot of quests however override that and say draw like normal.

EDIT/ Think I miss read your question. The other * ones that are not unique are treated like normal. Only the marked one is not.

Correct- one of these is the unique, and the other asterisk ones are "the unique "could be here."

Hey, In regard to revealing the unique search token, do you draw an search card?

I only ask this as in most cases it acts as a 5th search token, take Lair of the Wyrm: What's Yours is Mine quest, and Chains of Rust: Legion's hunter.

However;

There are quests like Mists of bilehall: Troubled water, as having as many search tokens as heroes, in our case 4, thematically the unique one doesn't effect the content of the search token, so we played it as drawing a card, it only had the effect of removing the enchant from the portal.

Thanks,

@Lewton , as a general rule you do not draw a search card when revealing a unique search token. The encounter reward (opening a door, finding a quest-related item) is meant to be instead of drawing a search card, regardless of the total number of search tokens and/or heroes.
