No wave 3 ad until Jan

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Hope they don't cancel the line until at least 2 more waves. Need some more admirals, and few more ships, and upgrade cards to keep it viable for years to come. I like what they have produced now but still feel there is not enou for it to feel complete. X-wing will feel complete after scum and villainy get their two new ships and the Starviper get a little boost.

Like others have said it would be nice to know they are not cancelling the line. The lack of new might be so people buy plenty of Armada stuff before people find out that the game is no longer getting product and thus people might not get into e feeling huge investment will not feel complete. They could just be hoping to dump as much product before delivering he bad news. I certainly hope not, but that is a long time to not here anything about wave 3. Maybe like another user said they are waiting for interest to rise before putting more product out

Lies! Don't even mention cancellation! It's herasy!! Blasphemous lies!

As an old x wing player i just can't understand how xwing is still more popular than armada. I know it's really just my opinion, armada > xwing.

Movement is streamlined, less "gotta buy these same 4 expansions I'll never use the ships from for specific upgrades", better initiative ballance with the introduction of objectives (2nd player gets a bonus too), more ships and a whole lot more cowbell!

I'm guessing x-wing has the advantage of being out in the market for a lot longer time. Armada and x-wing target the same audience, so you have people deciding what game to buy into. People who already have spent hundreds into x-wing...will most likely stick to x-wing.

I think the $100 buy in ($200 if you actually want to get into it with a buddy) is a big factor when compared to X-Wings $45 ($90).

YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG!!!! It's $40 (or $80). ;)

According to cool stuff's dice tower number, Armada was in the top 10 selling games of 2105 so it's future seems good!!!!

What would keep the time down would be a plateu of the squadron cap. Make it a flat 150pts out of 500, instead of the 1/3rd. That would limit the exhaustive squadron phase and keep gametime down.

How exactly would a flat number reduce overall play time compared to a percentage? The percentage was only so that they could make one rule between 300 and 400 points.

Simply treat it like a flat number right now. You get 134 points in squadrons.

I have observed that the more squadrons on the board for a game, the slower they are. So by capping it at 150, 140, 120 whatever it lowers the respective increase in squadrons. It also makes maths easier.

I'm sorry, I still don't think I understand your reasoning. 150 is more points, so that won't reduce the number of squadrons.

And is the math that hard? I've never had to pull out a calculator to determine ⅓ of 400, and if I did it would take me less than 2 minutes.

The costs of a flat rate mean that squadrons would either have been hugely overrepresented in Core games, and Wave 1, or underrepresented in Wave 2.

I'm sorry if I sound condescending or rude, I'm really not trying to, I'm just trying to understand, and I think there may be a communication disconnect somewhere along the way.

My bad, probably not explaining it well.

I am saying that if they increase the points limit to 500, instead of the respective 1/3rd of 167pts, cap the increase to 140 or 150, so that it limits the amount of squadrons on the field. This is in order to keep the time sink that the extra squadrons would be down.

500 points would be cool, but I don't think they'd increase it further for tournaments.

Flames of War went down the dark path of more points at comps...it brought out broken power combos that ended the game before the other guy could roll dice. Now if that could happen in Armada...I don't know. However less points = more risk.

400 points are fine. Way too times I've seen people want more points and larger armies and I've seen this line of thinking just crush or skew numerous miniature games. Just go to another scale for your bigger game needs.

If you really want to control massive fleets, just look at FFG's Star Wars Rebellion game. Me? I want Imperial Assault to be come a true pre-painted skirmish game. Oh, and more Armada ships!

Time is also important. Tournament games are already 2 hours and 15 minutes long.

Okay maybe a resurrected post but all I got to say is.

I will make a guess and say that the Rebel Transport and Gozanti Cruiser will be in Wave 3.

**** that is scary how accurate it was.
