Store Championship Locations (USA only)
Can I ask the important question of how the hell NYC has zero stores on this list?
It's only the largest city in America.
Thank you! This will help me build a schedule for my area!

I mean, it's possible, though the Compleat Strategist usually does.
I'm also suggesting to FFG, since I know they have reps that read this board, that if you have a giant dead spot in the largest city in the nation for a game you are trying to promote that you might want to have your reps try to contact some stores and see if you can do something about it. Not wise to give up on a majority of a ~23mm person metro area. Literally almost 10% of the population of the entire country.
Luckily, I'm in driving range of 5 of these in Cali ![]()

It's almost one of the most expensive areas as far as rent would be concerned for a business. The few game stores that are in NYC, are fairly small compared to what you find in the suburbs in the Northeast. They don't have the space to run miniature events, especially not Armada. Nor would it be profitable enough for them to do so. It isn't as if there aren't people in NYC that play Armada, there just isn't space to run events in most of the stores. They will do what gamers all over the Northeast do for events, head to the suburbs where rent is cheap enough for stores to have enough space to run events.
I live on Philadelphia, I don't game in Philadelphia because there isn't the amount/size of game shops compared to what you can find in NJ. This is the first year that there is actually a miniature game Store Championship in Philadelphia itself, and is so far west I barely consider it part of the city.
Typo? It has armada in the header but in the text it says these stores are for game of thrones store championships.

I mean, I'm in NYC. Brooklyn in particular. The closest store I can find on this list is actually in CT, and would be ~2 hours away.
We also do have stores in NYC here that usually run FFG tournaments. My suggestion comes from the fact that having the usual suspects run nothing and the nearest store be ~2 hours is a rather weird situation, and not good for the game's future in a very densely populated area.
Not just Manhattan, but zero in Brooklyn, Long Island, or even Westchester county. If the average NYCer is looking at 2 hours to go play, that's a population dead spot equal to the population of the 15 least populated US states combined. If we eliminate the Bronx and NJ side of things, assuming they can get to New City within an hour and a half or less, we are still looking at 10-12 states worth of people out of the loop.
That's my point, I suppose, and why I brought it up because I wanted FFG to see it. The area may be deceptively small on a map, but that's a very large potential gaming population not to reach at all.
TL;DR: I just want this game to succeed, yo!
Edited by ReinholtI'm also confused as to how compleat strategist is not there.
... Call them and ask them if they applied for it? Make them aware that they're not there if they did...
Suggest to them strongly they do if they did not...
3 my home town!

There are two stores in Brooklyn running X-wing events, given that you live in Brooklyn I'd expect you'd know better then most why those stores aren't running Armada events. Those two X-wing events are the only two FFG miniatures games running store championships in NYC. Do you play at/buy from those stores? Do any Armada players play at/buy from those stores?
A quick glance through the other games shows that The Complete Strategist isn't running any Store Championships, even for the LCGs that I know they support. Perhaps they have just be accidentally omitted, it has happened before with these lists. But then again I don't think TCS ran any Store Championships lat year, and yet was still selected to run Regional events. I would not be suprised, having been in that store, that they wouldn't run an Armada event. That basement space of theres just isn't that big, and frankly you can fit three card game matchs in the same area as an Armada game. And you probably can't charge the necessary entry fee to make up for having 1/3rd the attendance.
This is the third year of Store Championships. Alot of stores have realized that unless they have a playerbase that will gaureentee them attendance running an SC isn't going to be profitable. That likely goes double for stores in high rent metropolitan areas.
This list is, as far as I can tell, incomplete.
Since my first viewing, they've added several stores, and I expect more will be added, since my FLGS isn't listed and yet I've seen the confirmation email from FFG that they have a store championship kit on the way.

My local store is on the list. Which means that I need to think about scheduling before too much longer.
I have at least two Armada stores I've been to before on the list. Most excellent! Top Deck in NJ and Comic Store West in PA.
Question is do I go to be cannon fodder for X Wing at one of the stores?

They ran Sullust down there, we had like 14 people. It can handle Armada.

Mostly just messing with you. But you do know the LA is the largest city in the US. NYC has the most people but is much smaller than LA.

LA is a collection of mini-cities masquerading as an actual city.
