Wedge, Stay on target, integrated astro, targeting astro.
Just random idea for a real pain in the ass high damage ship. Add Jan Ors flying nearby to taste.
Maybe I just want to find a use for an old skool x-wing.

Edited by DariusAPBReally cool idea! Will absolutely shred those arc dodging Imperial aces! Though I also like the idea of BB-8/PTL. That's waht i'm flying tonight!
Enjoy only using it every other turn
Bb8 + ptl, on the other hand, is terrifyingly legit

Yep, for a point more, this combo does twice the work.
Yeah, I admit this combo isn't the best, and the POE BB* - PTL is boss, I just thought of it last night and was reminded, so... here we go.
Still like Adding Jan though.

I've been toying around with that list too. I've been looking at sticking Tycho and/or Jake in there with Wingman as well. It's still a work in progress though.
And mostly because I don't believe that there's only ONE TRUE WAYTM to outfit any ship. There's beneficial, sure. But there's also other ways to fiddle with a list to find a synergy that works for your own personal style of play.
If you're gonna do that then it's Porkins all the way. Odds are that he can't hold it for very long, but it's a workable combo.
I just realized that with MAAREK STELE of all people getting a second ship in imp Veterans (with what looks like Same Rules) I can really, REALLLLLLY See Keyan Farlander in an X-wing.

Old skool x wings are still king. In this case hobbie or even dutch vander would make better use of the TL droid though.

While we may disagree on the specifics, I really appreciate this post and the sentiment behind it. For example, I think there is probably a "best" way to outfit almost any ship; however, you local meta, squad make-up, and personal playstyle may say otherwise. That being said, the important thing is this prompted me to look deeper into these two combos and inspired me to post a little comparison.
Wedge (29)
+ Stay on Target (2)
+ Targeting Astromech (2)
vs
Wedge (29)
+ Push the Limit (3)
+ BB-8 (2)
each with Integrated Astromech, of course.
Ostensibly, the purpose of either build is to prevent targets from getting away, all while having a modified shot no matter the maneuver. So how do they stack up against each other?
As far as action efficiency, BB-8 plus Push the Limit acts as a pseudo-Advanced Sensors, which means you get your action even if you bump. Not only that, since it's not actually AS you still get your other action (Target Lock or Focus) after your maneuver and clearing the stress: that means full attacking mods. Targeting Astromech/Stay on Target, on the other hand, only allows one action: TL.
For maneuverability, BB-8/PtL is green maneuvers only, and even then more often than not, banks, because you can change your firing angle. With Targeting Astrmech plus Stay on Target, you're much better at all speeds: you can change between any of the 5 2- or 3-speed maneuvers, and even switch between a 4 straight or 4 k-turn. Note, however, that you only get the TL if you actually do a red maneuver, so if you stick with what you pick, you're action-less.
Finally, a few extra things to think about.
All told, I'm still going to run BB-8/PtL pretty much every time. But there are some slight advantages to TA/SoT if that's more your speed.
