Physically Docking the ships on the Gozanti

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

So I don't believe you need to PHYSICALLY have your ships plugged into the bottom of the Gozanti in order for them to be "docked". It seems like it's more for thematics, as well as a way to count how many are docked, and how many are deployed.

I was considering NOT having my ships docked underneath but rather simply having them built already and off to the side, ready to go in. Otherwise I'm going to have to pick up my model, pull out the TIE, put my model back on the board, get my TIE affixed to the base, and then deploy it. Plenty of chance to mis-place the Gozanti while doing all of that and it would just be "cleaner" to have your ships built-up already and ready to deploy.

EDIT - Especially considering that if you are docking Bombers... you cannot possibly have them docked into the Gozanti as they don't fit.

Especially since Bombers don't really fit.

I had the same thoughts.

But it does look cool.

I've heard of docking I think it's sick and wrong, you people should be ashamed of such perversion.

(Totes not bitter because defenders can't do it)

If you have like 12 tie fighters (and I know some of you do...) use the extras as docked models

Or just put them on the gozanti base. Looks dodgy, but they sort of fit (well nearly - the clamp on the front of the pylon gets in the way a bit). Would work for gaming though.

Bombers fit. Just put an extra peg between the bomber's mount and the docking clamp (see here).

thats what I was thinking, Or dock a ship like the Tie advanced as the Objective, say the Rebels have to destroy it.

There's no way to physically attach the Pup to the Hound's Tooth, and it's still considered docked, so I'd say actually docking the TIEs to the Gozanti isn't a requirement either.

It's actually not considered docked, at least not in game rules. Though it does have a special rule with the title to allow it to deploy from a destroyed HT.

Yup. Granted for any casual game I'll probably still try to physically dock my ships... but if I'm in a tournament I might consider just setting the docked ships to the side so there is less bumping and fidgeting.

And There's no way I'll actually stick a peg in my bombers for docking. That would look ridiculous. I tried it with a Defender in my unboxing video and it looks silly.

Ghost and Phantom. That's the example you were looking for.

Defenders would dock either at the stern or via viewport. Stern mounting should be prefered since that what was shown in the TIE fighter launch sequence. Of course this would require magnets. And science. And stuff.

This is not the example you're looking for...

In other words, they don't fit but they can fly in tight formation ;)

Fit 4 tie punishers on there and then Ill be impressed xD

Mine does :P

I'm gonna have to magnetize my Gozanti anyways, so setting up the docked ships will be no problem.

Should just about work with a peg in between, right?

Thinking about A-Wings in Star Wars: Rebels, I'd like to see an option to dock on corvettes now.

IKR! paint the CR90 blue to!

For-shame! The whole point of Epic isn't practicality! It's the "Oooooooooooooh, that is sooo awesome!" factor. Dock your TIEs and enjoy the moment where you stop the entire game to remove them.

My favorite part about the Gozanti is the Damaged Docking Clamp crit. You can shoot the fighters off of it! How cool is that?!

What are you guys talking about. Dont' you all keep a mini armada version of the epic ship underneath each of your epics?

Cmon. Read the new FAQ. When your Epic Raider dies you get to deploy 2 mini armada raiders, they shoot with blue and black dice and can fire 360 and can fire the same turn theyre deployed.

Physically docking is just cool factor. It doesn't need to actually be docked to be playable. Only that it COULD be docked. I will just designate which ship is were on the carrier with its number. In a tournament that's timed the fidgeting with ships while docked is an unnecessary waste of time.

The only time I will dock mine is when I have it in the display case for everyone to see.
