Is there a way to chat with other observers in the same room watching a game without interrupting the primary chat of the two contestants? Sometimes, it would be really cool to participate or ask questions without bothering the two contestants. You know, like when BMF and Streetta are playing and you have Major Juggler and Kelvan and Sephlar in the room? heh heh
Vassal Question: Observer Chat
Click on the name of the person you want to talk to and private PM them. I think it is a right click..
I know you can do that, but when there are 10 observers in a room watching a good match... I'm sure there would be some good commentary but you can't get that from PMs.
True. PMing that large a crowd wouldn't work. You can comment in the open as long as you are not distracting the players, critiquing maneuvers or plans, or spoiling strategy suggestions. Basically, if someone saying it over a table you were playing at would irk you, you probably shouldn't say it in chat.
Observers have an easier time with chatting as the players are dealing with so many windows and cues. If you can, inquire to the players if your comments in chat are distracting ( and as long as you aren't appearing on every second line you should get a positive response).
That would be my advice.
P.S. Don't PM the players. They have enough windows to view that a sudden pop up just wouldn't be welcome, no matter how friendly the intent.
I was also thinking a mumble or team speak server would be a good fit for this. Is anyone doing this?
