Based on what I have seen, the FO Tie looks a bit smaller, can anyone confirm or deny this? is it because FFGs OT Tie was too big, or is the FO Tie just... smaller?
First Order Tie vs Empire Tie (size)
Based on what we saw going into the TIE/fo cockpit, I don't see how it could be smaller! Maybe so... but dang...
Per Starwars.com the TIE/ln is 9.88m in lenght. Per Wookieepedia the TIE/fo is 6.69m in length.
It is however important to remember that TIE/sf is also featured which may be larger than the fo.
Edit: removed the spoiler.

It is however important to remember that when Poe and Fen escaped they did so in a TIE/sf which may be larger than the fo.
spoilers?
The miniature for the FO is a little bit shorter than the regular tie.
There have been several different sizes for tie fighters over the years. FFG used the size Lucasfilm settled on as official. So presumably the FO fighter is a little bit shorter in the wings. The ball us iron ably the same size though.
The cockpit is the same size. The panels however, are a little shorter.
Honestly it's proportioned much better.
I also really want to see a TIE/FO painted in classic Imperial uh... "Livery" if we can actually call it that.

TIE/ln is 8.99m actually.
The TIE/fo and TIE/sf sizes come from Incredible Cross Sections: TFA - both are exactly the same size.
Edited by IronlordThe interior of the TIE Fighters in Rebels look quite roomy.

It's possible that Rebels extrapolated from the 8.99m TIE length figure to get a roomy cockpit (the figure for TIE length in older EU works like Incredible Cross Sections was 6.3m - with diagrams showing an extremely cramped cockpit).
Rebels art style goes counter to all other sources just look at the star destroyers absurd necks.
Maybe that's a different model- Imperial-I, with all the movie ones being Imperial-II?
Ultimate Star Wars, at least, said that the proportionally smaller and thicker TIE wings seen in Rebels were a variant - for landing on planets.

Oh you're funny.

They cover this in a Rebels Recon Episode (starwars.com or Youtube)

Ugh, don't remind me!
Yep. TIE Fighter cockpits are pretty roomy.
See, people had this idea forever and ever, that TIE Fighter cockpits were basically balls you sat in that you just COULD NOT EVER ESCAPE unless you were docked ONLY IN a HANGING POSITION in a STAR DESTROYER god forbid Sienar design things to land no surely they designed it like some psuedo-BDSM fantasy ship.
...But as it turns out Sienar was actually pretty sensible.

I'm so glad new stuff has shown the Tie's being able to land, I got that Idea from this cross section book:
The new stuff has done a lot of great things.
There's just 101 damnations from fans who can't let go of the old, that just keep peeping above the fence with angry bloodshot eyes.

Nonsense, if they've kept anything consistent it's that TIE pilots can go EVA without dying whereas X-wing pilots don't even bother with a mask... XD

Haha, no kidding. God, Rebels gotta' learn to suit up..!
