XXXZZZ Competitive?

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have 3 Xwings and 4 Z95s, so I was just wondering if this could be a competitive build worth trying. Could also run 2 higher PS Xwings with 4 Z95s if that is better, but I kind of like the idea of having 3 attack dice on half the squad.

I tend to run some Tie miniswarms with an Interceptor, so was wondering if the extra firepower and shields make up for only getting 2 defense dice.

Interesting idea. I've heard many people say that the T-65 Rookie Pilot is the new Blue Squadron B-Wing, all because of one card: Integrated Astromech. They'll last at least 1 more turn than average than a 1 agility B-Wing. I've been thinking of trying XXXXZ sometime too. (All the X-wings have Integrated Astromech and R2 Astromech).

Without IA, I don't really like flying the generic X-Wings. They just die faster than I'd like.

Lots of hull, lots of red dices !! Tested and approved

This list has existed and has done decently in the hands of skilled pilots, I believe. You're at 99 points with 27HP and lots of red dice.

You can do real damage, but only if your arcs don't get dodged. You'll need to learn how to get in close and block like a champion. More difficult than Imperial Swarms since you lack the ability to roll into blocking positions or take evade actions on damaged ships.

With the new integrated astromech the older t/65s are more viable. A list I used to run a while back was imperial methadone. I wonder if imperial methadone could make a comeback using some of the new upgrades now available:

100 Points

22 - rookie x/65 w/ R2 & integrated astro

22 - rookie x/65 w/ R2 & integrated astro

22 - rookie x/65 w/ R2 & integrated astro

17 - Proto Pilot A-wing w/ AT

17 - Proto Pilot A-wing w/ AT

You have blockers and damage dealers with improved green maneuvers. Seems solid.

I played against biggs, rookie and four z some time ago, it worked well, should be even better now with integrated

I've been experimenting with running 3 and 4 small ships side by side instead of the typical 2x2 formation. It's a lot harder to run formation, but if somebody sets up to joust me, I have more ships firong at range 3 than they do. I'm really just experimenting with the older ships, because it seems like the new lists are more susceptible to swarms.
