What Is Your Favorite Canon (that you've seen)

By Boba Rick, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

What is Caravan of Courage??

One of the Ewok movies. None of which are canon.

How can live action star wars movies written by George Lucas not be considered Canon?

Ask Disney.

When they reset the canon it was the 6 theatrical movies, the Clone Wars movie/TV show and everything forward. This eliminates the Ewok movies. Which is too bad as they weren't hurting anything if they remained and I know I enjoyed them.

The Ewok movies were theatrical in Europe.

You know what I meant, The six main movies and Clone Wars forward is what was done at the reset of the so called previous canon. The now Legends line.

No, I dont know what you meant. When you say "Six main movies" are you including the prequels to bring it up to nine? What the hell is "Clone Wars"? Was this whole thing decided by blind monkeys throwing darts? Maybe you can explain yourself.

CLONE WARS IS A TELEVISION SHOW

Episode VII IMHO suffers from an overload of deus ex machina convinience moments, and Kylo "Rat Kid" Ren is the most repelently annoying characther i've seen in the entire saga(yes more than jar jar, since im a firm advocate to the darth jar jar theory). But it does bring some good characters and action scenes, even though not as grandiouse as the battle of Hoth, the death star run, or the plethora of battles present in episode III(my favourite one is Kashyyk) so at least its a good if somewhat bland begining for a new age

I have to disagree with you on the Kylo Ren point. Although I had already seen a jpeg of one of the lego sets from next year, and knew what Ren would look like, I was still surprised at the unmasking. As the movie continued though, I think the character was perfect; he really seemed like the torn kid even in the scenes before the unmasking. As another believer in the Darth Jar Jar theory, all it amounts o me is that Jar Jar could have been a great character, but Lucas's fear prevented that, and that makes me hate Jar Jar even more!

As for the deus ex machina moments, I do agree that there were a lot of them, but what no one seem to be notice is that none of them are new, JJ just took the from the previous movies, making them seem even more over the top.

I had already seen his face i was so dissapointed they picked such an ugly actor to play him. Kylo has for me the charisma of a block of wood, its just too bland and a constant fountain of embarrasment, he barely defeats a guy who never used a lightsaber in his life, gets easily shot by chewbacca, kills han solo in a rather undramatic fashion,(i was hoping for a more embrace han, and hen cut him in half with an "i lied" expression on his face), the part were he destroys the computer, what the hell was he doing, the real darth vader would have killed the messenger. When i first saw kylo i was expecting a villain like The Witch King, what i got instead was a much less fun version of gollum or grima wormtongue

The original movie had deus ex machina moments, but coming to think about them they do have a rather good explanation for most of them, the only one real deus ex is the meeting with han solo but its easily forgiven.

BAH!

I started this so we could have a FRIENDLY conversation about what was our favorite canon in order of personal preference - not argue about what IS canon!

Ok, so I've heard of episodes one two and three. Where are you getting episodes four five and six from? Were they made later? What about the original trilogy (you know, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi?)

Okay now I know you are trolling. Ignore list.

Episodes IV, V and VI are the original trilogy!

That must be new. My copy doesn't have episode numbers on it.

Ignore my if you like, i dont have much use for Disney fanboy posers anyway.

V - One of the greatest plot twists in movie history. I also love that the heroes lose in the end because so few movies end that way.

VI - This one probably would have been my #1 if it wasn't for the Ewoks. I really hate how easily they were able to defeat the Empire.

VII - I've only seen it once and it's position may change after multiple viewings but I really loved most of what I saw. My complaints are few and far between.

IV - It's a fantastic movie but a bit dull, especially most of the scenes on Tatooine.

III - There is a big gap between this movie and the ones above. There are a lot of problems with it but I feel it is the best out of the prequels.

II - Horrible dialogue and tons of problems but at least it is not too boring.

Holiday Special - Oh god this is awful. But it gets a slight edge in being so awful and easy to make fun of.

Clone Wars - Because of this movie I didn't bother watching the TV series until it was almost at an end and everyone told me to give it a chance. Why? I couldn't stand Asoka Tano. I'd put her in the same level of Jar Jar Bink's for how much I hated her. They have greatly improved her character since then but I still have a strong dislike for her and hope we get to see her killed off in Rebels ASAP.

I - If you are a Star Wars fan I should have to explain to you why this is by far the worst Star Wars movie ever made.

Return of the Jedi

Empire Strikes Back

The Force Awakens

SW Rebels

--------------- The above 4 are all really close to being tied.

The Phantom Menace

A New Hope

Revenge of the Sith

Attack of the Clones

The Clone Wars

Holiday Special - I don't know if it counts as canon though, I think it was kinda wiped clean.

I put ROTJ first because that was my favorite as a child so it has a lot of nostalgia for me, as well as having provided the basis for a lot of awesome ships, especially the B-Wing which is my fav. Rebels is also up there because I love having a weekly show to watch and it's surprisingly good! I get SOOO excited every Wednesday evening!

Phantom Menace is pretty high on my list because dude.... the whole first act was simply amazing. Liam Neeson was masterful as a Jedi! The subtle things he was doing too were great - like talking to the Gungan Boss he was using mind tricks, but being very subtle about it - heck I didn't even notice it until my 5th viewing. It was a great way to demonstrate that the Jedi wouldn't straight up abuse their power, and that he was going to just use it enough to help them move along without being detained. Really very good. Also this was the first time we say force powers that had only appeared in video games and books... like force speed, force push, etc. (You could argue that force push happened in the original trilogy, but it was quite different from Obi Wan and Qui-Gon knocking down droids - that was done very well).

I hated the Clone Wars - mostly because it was out of order and made me confused and angry. I'll have to rewatch it again someday in the proper order and see if that helps.

I before IV! You should be ashamed of yourself. ;) But definitely give Clone Wars a try. It is far better than what little I have seen of rebels (in my eyes it doesn't even get a capital R).

This is how I felt about rebels, I have seen the pilot and 1 or 2 clips from youtube including the one of the clones from The Clone Wars attacking the ATAT. For the first time in my life, I wanted Captain Rex to die. He was one of my favorite characters in The Clone Wars, and they just disgraced him. I wish he would have just been executed for not obeying Order 66, or died defending his jedi general then. Please tell me I have seen some of the worst elements of the show.

P.S. Oh yeah, and I can't stand any of the members of the Ghost or Kallus. This is probably a bad sign right?

Okay her's my (movies only) list

  1. ep VI
  2. ep V
  3. ep IV
  4. ep VII
  5. ep III
  6. ep II
  7. The Ewok movies *
  8. ep I
  9. The holiday special*

*and no arguing about whether these are canon or not!

On the Old clone wars cartoon: Oh man, that was great. I actually got the 2 volumes at Half price books for cheap and watch them when I do my monthly Star Wars marathon in place of Episodes I and II. It bridges the gap really well and Anakin inst a whiny idiot. He's a cartoon whiny idiot! (jk)

i love the cartoon for me the prequels could be episodes 2, this cartoon and revenge and they would be much better. The cartoons had a lot of dept and were genuinely fun while being rather edgy in some places

The "clone wars" cartoon was designed to bridge the gap and introduced several characters before they appeared in the movies. Lucas was involved in those stories and you won't know the full story behind those characters if you don't watch it.. but it's no longer classed as Canon unlike the "the clone wars" show.

Actually, this is not correct. According to Lukas, it still is canon.

I could accept that. The Clone wars was a huge chunk of time, as long as you think of Asajj as rejoining Dooku and then attacking Anakin on Yavin where she dies, then the second half of the Clone Wars 2D takes place after the 3D cartoon ends, thus no Ashoka.

Out of all the Star Wars Canon you've seen, what is your favorite and why? No spoilers on the new movie, please.

I know what some people may think of my list "A New Hope over Empire Strikes Back?!". remember, without the success of Ep. 4, there is no more Star Wars...period.

I put Ep. 1 as high up as I did because despite its short comings, you have to admit it re-energized the Star Wars franchise by getting a whole new generation hooked.

Tom Vassel's favorite movie is ROTJ! yaaay! :)

The Empire Strikes Back

A New Hope

Parts of ROTJ. I hated the Ewoks and Vader turned out to be a wimpy old man. It Foreshadowed the coming debacles.

The Prilogy is not even in consideration as entertainment. Bad George Lucas... bad, bad boy!

The Force Awakens is in the plans to see asap. I want it to be good... Fingers crossed.

I just saw TFA and it has surpassed TROJ for me.

Very enjoyable movie.
