As I now have several paper rulers I was thinking about cutting one to be an easy range 1 measure. But....
Where do I cut? Just at the dividing line? In the middle of it? At the end?

We always count the line as close as possible but for what you are doing I guess I'd try to split it as best as possible.
At the line separating range one and two.
Measure twice. Cut once.
Actually, cut several times. Lightly scoring first then cutting slightly deeper on each draw will result in a cleaner, more accurate cut with less effort.
Isn't there a metric measurement per range band? Probably want to aim for that.
100mm per range band IIRC.
I did that and aimed for the middle of the line.
It's super helpful. Range 1 or range 3 are easy to figure out. Lone wolf becomes much easier.
Having a range one ruler is awesome. Much easier to deal with when you've got a bunch of ships in a tight bunch.
I ended up just spending the money on an acrylic set that included separate rulers for range 1, range 2, and range 3. They're incredibly handy.
Range 2 is just a 5-forward, yes?

Range is 100, 200, and 300 mm.
Movement is 40 mm x the move.
1 Straight = 40 mm.
2 Straight = 80 mm.
3 Straight = 120 mm.
4 Straight = 160 mm
5 Straight = 200 mm = Range 2.
what did you use to cut it? looks like i need a sharper razor
I used scissors. Worked like a champ

I did this as well. I thought that the Range-2 might not be that useful, but I was surprised to find that each one has its place. A three-piece acrylic set is an excellent investment.
Rather than cut the range ruler, I went and bought some wooden dowels and cut two range rulers for range1 and range2. I find them much easier to fit between ship stands.
I am in love with my full set of rulers - they're fantastic for checking the borderline cases amongst a firefight when you can simply lower the shortest-relevant ruler in the gap and see if it can physically touch both bases simultaneously, without knocking everything over ![]()
And being able to 'sweep' the ground between two bases can rather neatly solve any are-you-sure arguments in a right quick hurry, too...

I cut mine at the dividing line, giving me a 1 and a 2-3 (translate: 1-2) sections. And they were just a little crooked cuts that triggered my OCD, and I chucked 'em.

Oh! Neat idea.
Don't just cut on the lines. You MUST measure 100mm.
The stick is pretty close to 300mm, but depending on the misalignment of the print vs the die, the individual lines won't be. You can see this if you turn the range ruler sideways and the imperial and rebel 'range 1' line won't line up with each other.
Lift the range ruler in front of you, using the force. Meditate for as long as necessary, then ignite your lightsaber. Cut the range ruler in one swift stroke. Do not hesitate and let the force guide your actions. If you do that, the result will be perfect.
Sadly I'm not in, nor likely to visit soon, OZ. Thanks though. ![]()
