I've noticed a few places online say that Harrison Ford has been added to the episode VIII. After a moment of 'Oh go they're not bringing together plot to bring him back from/survive THAT are they?') I thought he'd appear in a flashback. Does the 'flashback' idea sound probable, or do we think that the story will sink down to that level.

Considering we already got one flashback in TFA, more wouldn't seem unlikely. There is always Force visions as well. I can think of one person who Han may haunt his dreams a bit.

If they were going to cheapen it by resurrecting him, they would've done it already.

Here is what happens. Prepare to be amazed.

Empire Strikes Back: Boba Fett is leaving Cloud City. The Disk-Shaped buildings remind him of where he grew up. Kamino.

Boba makes a slight detour and returns to Kamino with Solo still in his cargo hold. He doesn't trust turning Han over to Jabba. Fett also wants to have an ace up his sleeve, especially in case Vader needs to lure The Princess somewhere again - after all she was last seen shooting at the Slave-1 as it flew away, with Chewbacca. Clearly they have escaped and Vader will be looking for them again.

Boba talks to the Kaminoans and they agree to create an adult clone of Han Solo. It won't be quick, but considering he is already in a carbonite prison, they can disguise a cloning pod to look very similar to the carbonite casting of Han Solo. They are able to extract his DNA from the Carbonite computer and begin the process. Upon completion, they inform Fett that the clone will take time to grow. Fett has time. He begins his trip to tatooine, with a perfect duplicate of his "prize", while the real Han remains frozen in carbonite safely back on Kamino.

Several months go by, and Jabba still hasn't attempted to thaw Han Solo. Boba Fett's deception is safe. Leia eventually shows up and attempts to free the Clone, thinking it is the real Han Solo. The clone is NOT yet finished developing, and as a result his eyes aren't yet fully formed. The newly free'd Han Solo clone is blind.

Nobody suspects there is anything wrong with his blindness. They simply attribute it to the carbonite freezing process. Eventually the clone's eyes finish developping, but it isn't until well after they've escaped from Jabba's Palace. Nobody ever thought to examine the carbonite pod in detail, else they might have noticed kaminoan markings.

In Episode 8, Rey sees a vision of Han on Kamino. She must go free him. This also explains why Ben turned to the Dark Side - the son of a rushed clone went mad.

Now that is some imaginative speculation, I like it. .

Phasma attempts to nurse the clone back to health but it is no good. Considering that his torso was impaled his legs are still functional.... they combine Han's legs with Darth Maul's upper half and have Maul Solo, Sith Smuggler, Ninja Scoundrel, Smooth Talking Assassin.

These sources are referring to an off the cuff comment made by Kathleen Kennedy a few days ago when she said everyone (of the stars at least) would be reprising their roles. It's very possible that this in fact does not include Harrison because if she instead said "everyone except Mr. Ford will be back", it would be downright horrible for anyone who has not seen ep7 yet.

But until the ep8 cast has been officially announced, I wouldn't bank on Mr. Solo coming back. The back of my mind always wonders if part of Ford's agreement to come back was that Solo dies.

Also, it might be to stop people reading the casting for Ep8 and going 'wait, no Han? HE MUST DIE IN EP7!' before they see the film.

it's han effing solo! phasma will fall in love with him. instantly. heals him back to life, only to find out he's still married and cares for chewie erm leia. which will be too much for her and *boom*, she blows herself up. together with the whole deathstarIV in episode8 "another deathstar awakens".

han will long be gone by then and throws a witty line, of course.

Darth Maul was cut in half and dropped down a bottomless shaft aswell. And he came back in Clone wars.

Plus, Finn taking a lightsaber right across the spine and surviving, makes me think Kylo's 'saber isn't that good.

I think Boba Fett has too much occupational pride to cheat Jabba out of a bounty. He would have given Jabba the real target. Besides, if the Han Solo in Jabba's palace is a clone, he wouldn't have the real Solo's memories.
