I have survived the gauntlet!

By Funk Fu master, in Star Wars: Armada

I have managed to stay spoiler free for 5 days and am now on the train with the wife to go see TFA at gold class (with tickets that she bought, bless)

It has been a long and arduous ordeal, with 2/3rds if the internet off limits and resisting most of the topics in this forum.

But I have emerged like Lazarus reborn, fresh and untainted and more excited than I was 16 years ago when TFM came out, because now I know better (In JJs eyes we are saved, amen)

Yeah but does your warrior need food badly?

Vader kills Dumbledore, BB-8 was the sled all along, they were on Alderaan all along, Leia Durden isn't real, Blue Milk is made of people & Luke was a ghost all along.

How come there are no plot spoilers for Transformers movies?

(Notice of sarcasm disclaimer, in case people cannot see the wood for the trees)

There's plots for Transformer movies?! Mind blown.

And jj proved he can rehash almost reboot starwars vs giving us a truely new and unique story.

Because, you know, Star Wars isn't a remake of Hidden Fortress, or a take on the Power of Myth by Campbell. Everyone is hating on this movie but they fail to realize it is following the same rhyme pattern as the other Star Wars myth. I would wager that most people enjoyed the film in the theater and maybe even had a good time. Mission Accomplished.

Maybe it's just me...

Ok, so I wasn't stupid enough to read this thread before I saw the movie

It was awesome, its amazing what you can do with actors who can act and dialogue worth acting!

Not at all. Certainly it had some issues, a bit of the comedy felt a little forced at times, it may have rehashed a bit too much, but hell, I had a good time. It'll never be the OT - but legends transcend themselves, I don't know if it's possible for it to have achieved that level in my eyes, regardless of how great it could possibly have been.

It's the heroes journey story archetype.

Done very well. If the not the best.

It follows all 14/steps nearly exactly.

I think it was necessary.

All stories have been told before.

Kylo ren got his ass,

Handied to him.

Agreed. They were also playing it safe by giving the fans exactly what they asked for. This movie felt like Star Wars again. I expect Episode VIII to start breaking new ground. This movie is there to bring us back into the universe and give us new (and fantastic) characters.
