So episode seven ships or lack there of.

By Hobojebus, in X-Wing

The Resistance does get hand me downs. I mean, Leia got Home One.

You guys are breaking my heart with all this stuff from non-movie sources. Now my trio of sweet new T-70s feel all old and shabby.

Also, the black X-wing is technically a T-85, I think.

No, it's not. It's just a T-70 painted black.

But T-85s are a thing, the New Republic flies them. And i suspect that given the events of the movie, we'll see the New Republic join the fight against the First Order. Meaning potentially a new model of X-Wing for us to get our hands on. But that likely won't be for a long time unless Disney really pushes the T-85.

It's weird isn't it?

That in, what, two years? We'll be seeing another new X-Wing. I dunno' how to feel about that man, I really like my T-70. It's pretty.

The amount of TIE models is practically infinite but 3 x-wing models is too much?

Y-wings were old and shabby and yet the Rebel alliance made good use of them... in the Rebellion it's not about the paint!

Yeah but T-70s are the shiny new hotness! The movie's been out less than a week and now I'm being told they are actually old junkers according to books I haven't read yet. :-/

I want that resistance transport that General Organa and C-3PO showed up in.

The novel was released the same time as the movie - at least u got the new car smell all the way back from when the preview began :P

Hey now I never said that.

BUT.

Rebel ships have always been extremely distinct from one-another in design.

This.

And the Ties do a good job of distinguishing themselves even if they are all labeled Tie and all have the same imperial aesthetics. But with this in mind it's worth noting I am not a huge fan of the Tie fighter and Tie/Fo essentially being the same ship, and I really dislike the idea of having 3 ships which are all but identical outside of color in the game. The fact that this seems inevitable with the Tie Fighter model (with the likely release of a special forces tie) is a rough enough pill to swallow. But 3 X-wings? Ugh... I'd get over it, but it would bother me a good bit initially. :/

Yeah I had no idea a t-85 existed it does detract from the t-70 quite a bit.

Honestly I am ok with what FFG has for those who want TFA era ships. I would rather they turn their full attention back to where it all started, Galactic Empire era. Heck we have Juno...so where is Starkiller?

Certainly the people claiming there won't be any more eu ships from now on must be feeling silly.

I still don't expect to see any more EU content. Or to be more precise, I expect any EU content will draw primarily from the new EU, and I expect that most new content will be drawn from canon sources like Rebels and the new movies. There's at least another waves worth in TFA.

so where is Starkiller?

I think fitting Starkiller Base into X-wing may be pushing the limits of what's achievable with huge ships.....

And now, non-jokingly, I'd imagine you'll see them fairly soon. We're still seeing 'legends' stuff coming out post the film release (see Imperial Veterans) so I can't imagine them not releasing him at some point. The question is "in what"?

Actually the evidence does point to it being a T-85. See Before the Awakening novel. Poe flew a black T-85 before joining the Resistance and getting a T-70. No evidence points to him having repainted his T-70 black in the months he was in the Resistance instead of the Republic Navy.

And he did fly a blue T70 for a brief bit... before... you know...

So if we do get to a point where pilots can be on multiple ships, it would be a good one to bring him out with. Not sure how you enhance it again for a T85, but I'm down with trying!

We are already at that point. Maarek Stele is coming for Defender and he is on the TIE Advanced. Hera is on the VCX and the Assault Shuttle.

Yes, but it is not very widespread yet. And nothing is on the shelves yet, it is development, though revealed. Maarek will be the first best one as Hera is a corner case (though technically the first). Heck, I'm still wanting some Rogue Squadron X-Wings to come out, even though I already have more X-Wings than I could ever field. I like the variant paint models without having to try to get my hands steady enough to do them myself.

Farlander in an a-wing would be cool he stresses through PTL makes him highly defensible and frees him from needing greens.

I believe there are two version of the First Order TIE Fighter introduced in TFA. Regular, inverted version and then the special forces version with red paint stripes which can fire backwards.

Well, there are two separate model kits coming out...

That is correct they are two different ships. Most of us have been expecting to see the special forces one in an upcoming wave or other product.

Yeah issue is imps have 2-3 more ships from the movie but rebels don't so faction balance goes out the window.

Yeah main attack on starkiller base was just x-wings vs TIEs. even ep V had x- and Y-wings vs TIEs and vaders custom advanced. I was very dissapointed in the lack of B-wings...

I hope one day we'll see faction swapped ships like: Imperial B-wings, Rebel (captured) TIE interceptors, etc.
