So episode seven ships or lack there of.

By Hobojebus, in X-Wing

We've already got the t-70, the falcon is identical to the OT version besides the dish so you'd be paying £25 for the Pilot cards.

Money money money. You really think FFG will release a repainted A Wing, B Wing, and TIE Interceptor but not a repainted T-70 when that repainted T-70 actually appears on screen in the movies.

Quadjumper did naff all but blow up I don't even know if it's armed.

As opposed to the Misthunter or IG2000 which had how much time on screen?

Troop transport and storm trooper transport never fired a shot and there's no land battle component so neither really has a role not already occupied.

The Lambda never fired a shot either. Neither did the GR75. Both are in the game.

The cog is the only ship left suitable for this game.

FFG is in this for the money. They are scrambling to release every ship they can. They hit the bottom of the EU barrel some time ago, and started digging. Now they have new ships that are on screen in the new movie, and you think they won't release them?

Come on.

The Quadjumper is a tugboat. 8meters, 1 crew with room for 2 passengers. Unarmed, basically just 4 engines, arranged round fuel tank, cramped cockpit with 3 seats, cramped crew bunk. On the outside freight cranes and clamps.

I would really LOVE to have tugboats in the game for scenarios. But I doubt we will get Quadjumpers. Maybe as an armored converted build for rebels or S&V, but very doubtful.

And the Lambda is a shuttle and the YT models are freighters. The Quadjumper is noted as being a favourite of explorers and smugglers because of it's ease of customisation and powerful engines. I think it would be a great S&V ship and could easily imagine it being customised to have some guns to keep enemies away.

True but again all those ships and vehicles none of them were very iconic as you didn't see them do much. So as far as stats like what has more firepower and what has better shielding you either have to resort to Disney filling the gaps with supplements such as wookiepedia or other things. At least an X-wing is expected to act like an X-wing and a TIE Fighter is expected to act like a TIE fighter. But as for the quad jumper all we saw it do was to get blown up, we never see it in action. Now of course that was to move the plot along for the reveal of the Millennium Falcon AKA Garbage.

Now you are right FFG is scraping the bottom of the barrel as the OT has been thoroughly exhausted for source material and they haven't touched the prequels. However The Force awakens hasn't brought alot to the table. Another imperial Shuttle, a 2 seatter TIE fighter, the scavangers Falcon, and of course the FO and T-70 are the most iconic ships. The stormtrooper transport, Resistance recon shuttle, Hans frigate which is more of a huge ship, those scum looking B-wings on that scene in the approach to the green world. Maybe the quad jumper those are scrapign the bottom of the barrel and really won't sell much on iconism. Many non-players bought the Millennium Falcon expansion pack not because it was the top meta list at the time of wave 4 and 5 but because it was the most iconic ship in Star Wars and they just have it sitting on the shelf like a desk ornament.

You're right, including things like the quadjumper is scraping the bottom of the TFA barrel, and I guess my whole point here is that FFG has demonstrated a desire and ability to scrape the bottom of the barrel already, and it's just crazy to think they wouldn't do the same with the TFA. Every ship that appears on screen in TFA will find it's way to X Wing if they can make it fit.

The Aces packs are just repainted models that currently exist. I expect to see Scum and Rebel aces in the next 12-18 months for sure.

I think Scum is up next for an aces pack after Empire Aces that are planned. Maybe next fall/winter.

Kylo Ren's shuttle is an obvious release IMO.

It's black colour scheme matches perfectly with the TIE f/o's and more importantly would be the quickest way to get Kylo-freaking-Ren (crew) in the game.

I will say this though, where FFG might not have made the special force TIE a separate model, Disney/LFL might. And they havea but more input it seems these days. So for all my logic, it might be insignificant when compared to the power of the mouse.

The Guavian Death Gang had a ship, and I assume Kanjiklub did as well. More scum large ships?

I'm sure they did. Unfortunately, the movie didn't show them. Those guys just showed up on Han's ship.

Sadly, that leaves us with nothing to make a model out of.

And it's hard to make a dial for something when you've no clue how it flies.

A few minutes flying straight on screen tells the devs nothing.

I just don't get how anybody can say the TIE/SF isn't getting its own model.

It's a completely different ship.

Aren't the differences fairly subtle though?

I would think most Imperial players would prefer a TIE f/o repaint and a different ship released instead of FFG working on another slightly re-modelled TIE f/o release.

I know I do :D

It's got a turret a sensor array on top and tanks on its wings, it has access to missiles and would have either a turret or aux arc.

It's different enough.

Game mechanics wise, it's a huge difference. Missiles, turret, crew...

Model wise, yes it's actually different enough to be noticeable.

To be fair, pretty much everything flies exactly the same in the movies and TV shows. Ship maneuverability is almost entirely dependent on the skill of the person flying the ship.

Agreed. Its the TIE/fo that didn't deserve it's own model.

I think we might get more ships when the Rest of the Republic rallies to strike back and we see larger forces clash than only the Resistance and a limited part of the FO

Well, if the new trilogy hews to the pacing of the old, I doubt we get any real space combat in Ep VIII.

No - there will be some great snow battles and asteroid field pursuit scenes though ;)

Eh the snow battle got edited out of TFA :) Thats why there's all these toys that only appear in the background of the speech scene.

Ah, good. I was wondering what happened to this thing:
