I'm new to the game, but an old hat at gaming in general. This is my first post after skulking for a while. After looking at some of the "standard" lists, I tried to come up with a viable all TIE/fo Fighter list. Having failed that, I made a MOSTLY TIE/fo list that I think has a lot of potential. It uses one TIE fighter pilot from the as-yet unreleased Assault Carrier. It is as follows:
100 points
PILOTS
Omega Squadron Pilot (20) x 3
TIE/fo Fighter (17), Push the Limit (3)
“Epsilon Leader” (23)
TIE/fo Fighter (19), Shield Upgrade (4)
“Youngster” (17)
TIE Fighter (15), Expert Handling (2)
The basic idea was to create a squad of highly maneuverable and versatile TIEs using and abusing the new TIE's movement dial. I tried to find some discrete advantages that (at least on paper) look like they complement each other well: Each Omega has the super nice TIE/fo dial, PTL, and gets to "borrow" Youngster's EH ability, essentially giving them 3 actions; Epsilon removes their stress from PTL, and gets EH as well. The obvious weaknesses I see are the low to mid PS, making them vulnerable to Aces, as well as the relatively small number of ships for a TIE swarm. Also, Youngster and Epsilon Leader are the obvious first targets, and Epsilon Leader needs to be at Range 1 to use his ability. The list doesn't have the numbers of a true TIE swarm, and is probably much easier to hit than other Empire lists.
Alternatively, Youngster could carry Expose (Eps Leader drops shield upgrade, probably Twin Ion Engine Mk II?), giving the whole list much more firepower potential at the cost of some of their maneuverability. Thoughts?
