If you use Chopper's crew card ability you "suffer 1 damage". Chewie Crew ability works when "You are dealt a damage card".

Can you not use Chewie after Chopper since it doesn't say Chopper is "dealing a damage card"?

When you take damage, you discard shield tokens first then take damage cards. So if Chewie is on a ship with no shields and you use chopper, I would think that yes, you could then activate chewie
