T-65s need some love - Luke, Wedge, TLT Gold

By McQuirk, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here's my thoughts.

Opinions?

X-Wing: · Luke Skywalker (28)

Predator (3)

· R2-D2 (4)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

· R3-A2 (2)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

X-Wing: · Wedge Antilles (29)

Outmaneuver (3)

Targeting Astromech (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Gold Pilot with TLT and R3-A2 seems to be as "right as rain" I like that combo.

Wedge and Outmaneuver have the same ability, right? So, basically you would be reducing the target's agility by two; as long as you were not jousting. What about Push the Limit instead of Outmaneuver? Both have the same cost and you will be able to get Target Locks all the time with Targeting Astromech. As of now, the free TL will only come from K-turns.

You spelled "BB-8" and "Push the Limit" wrong. ;)

Targeting Astromech does not interact with Push the Limit. TA cares about the color of the maneuver, not the stress.

Yeah I also think Wedge isn't going to outmaneuver much even with an engine upgrade. To me, outmaneuver is nice on an A-wing with a second EPT. He's still dying for modifiers for his dice. As I've flown it before and it's cheap, I second the PTL BB-8 interaction for a tl and focus and not stressed Wedge every round.

Apparently I'm a scrub since I rock a plain rookie to carry my R3-A2. This was WAY before IA even showed up. It's a better ship than people give it credit for imo.

As for the list, I agree with others. Xs aren't great flankers...but at least take BB-8 and EU.

Yeah I thought about the BB8 and PtL thing. I was thinking to be honest about double - stacking the -1 agility dice abilities to counter brobots, soontir and Jake Farrell all of whom are gaining prominence in my local meta. To be fair though, it's true that wedge is unlikely to be getting out of their arcs so maybe it's not that great a counter.

It's nasty when it works though. :-D

Give Wedge BB-8, the PtL isn't necessary. That way you can more easily dodge an arc to trigger Outmaneuver.

Not sure why I thought Targeting Astromech was a good idea. I guess I was thinking that you could K-turn and still TL, hopefully while being out of arc thus giving -2 agility to the target as well. BB8 just makes more sense all round.

I guess I am missing something. BB-8 awards a barrel roll action after a green maneuver. It doesn't allow him to do extra actions, as PTL does. Having the two together makes a mean combo.

BB8 confers a free barrel roll action that happens before the ship executes the revealed green manoeuvre, so the ship can still do a normal action in the "Perform Action" step after the manoeuvre as usual.

Sure, it does, but it does lock you into greens to make the most of the ptl investment. Stepping away from ptl opens a whole range. Don't be afraid, not everything is solved by an extra action. :P

Before? I played it after when I used him...whoops :D
