I'm relatively new to the game (I got the starter sets in September) but I'm expecting a decent amount of x-wing for Christmas. Are there any events to look for in 2016?

Not sure where you are coming from or how far you are willing to go, but curio cavern in springfield has a small tournament every Tuesday. I'm also trying to find more places to play but haven't been having much luck, myself.

Wait, where next to DC are you because from the Pentagon to Curio Cavern is like 15 min (unless its morning or afternoon rush hour)?
Unfortunately I no longer live in that area but my Ex grew up about 3/4 of a mile from there so I know the area well. Take 395 to 95 and then get off at Franconia road and its right by the Springfield Town Center. Its sort of between Barnes & Noble and JCPenney.
You could probably Metro it but it would be more like 45 min each way.
I found out that Victory comics in falls church does x-wing on Thursdays, and the Island games in Centreville has the same deal on Wednesday. Ive been trying to find a more cohesive list of stores and tournaments but everything seems fairly dead or not talked about in the area, its little disheartening. If you come across anything post it here so I can try to get in on the action!
I know The Compleat Strategist in Falls Church is having trouble setting up a x wing night. They should post something on their Facebook page when they do.
