Would name drops be enough?

By Sir Orrin, in X-Wing

We all have EU characters we want to see in the new canon, and It would be amazing if some of them were in the new movies! As much as cameos would be cool, they would just take screen time, and slow down the films, unless that character was related to the plot. Would it be cool to see them (or hear them) get name drops? who would you want to have mentioned in a new film?

Soontir Fel for me!

A new cannon that shoots people? The Jerjerrod cannon?

Kir Kanos for me.

My proofreading skills.....

Wedge Antilles needs some screen time, somehow.

Yeah!

I know the actor declined but it's not like Luke Han and Leia where anyone else playing the part would be jarring. I think Wedge could appear regardless of the original actor. Something to confirm his ace status from the old EU. Even if it's just dialogue. The obvious would be for a there to be a bit of hero worship from his protege Poe.

They could even keep Wedge in pilot-helmet the whole time so they don't have to focus TOO much on his face.

Wedge and Dash.

not Wedge Wannabe dude >_>

I'd say mine, but it'd be a spoiler for stuff we've heard.

They brought back Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, neither of them necessary for the part.

And they asked Denis Lawson, but he declined, the part having nothing to offer him as an actor.

So no Wedge Wannabe, but you're okay with Dash, the Han Solo Wannabe?! ;)

I always called Dash the Budget Han Solo.

I'll be honest i always hated Dash Rendar, it was painfully obvious he was supposed to be Han Solo but, just... edgier.

Poe's only a Wedge Wannabe on the basis that he's an ace pilot. That's basically it. Their character traits are very, VERY different from each other.

Wedge's now starring in the Aftermath Trilogy covering the time between episode 6 & 7. His survival into the Sequel Trilogy isn't a sure thing (I guess they are keeping their options open in cae he says yes in the future). Temmin Wrexley one of the T-70 pilots who survives TFA originates from this story.

Dennis Lawson wants more screen time before he'll say yes supposedly.
