Is the Imp Raider debris fields tournament legal?

By heychadwick, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I seem to be the only person in my local game store that has the Imperial Raider. It has a neat debris field that is a blown up Gozanti. I had someone tell me it was fine for casual games, but not tournament legal. I have no idea if he's full of it or not.

Is it?

No it is not.

It's not tournament legal. The only officially approved obstacles for tournaments are the asteroids from the core sets and the debris from the YT-2400 and Decimator expansions.

What was mentioned above. Outside of epic play, the debris tokens are only good for casual games. I agree they look pretty awesome and use a combination of them for casual play.

[All of the above] yet.

You,could also pull an epic ship as an obstacle instead of your 3. Ive got a guy in my local group that loves to do that.

Please note that they are NOT referred to as "debris fields" in the documentation which shipped with the Raider.

They are something like "Mission tokens" that are only called for in campaign play.

Again, they are officially not referred to as "debris fields".

Are you saying this is tournament legal?

It's definitely not allowed in FFG's tournament rules.

The rules which ship with the Raider and the Rebel Transport both have rules for using a "derelict" version of the hull as all 3 of a player's obstacle tokens. (I don't own any other Huge ships but I assume they also have the same rules for "derelicts".

I've used it on a few occasions. It screws up people's spacial reasoning (including mine - I bricked a Firespray on it and the only reason it got free is the special rules for bumping into impossible to exit situations...

I can't speak to official tournament rules, but I can see no reason why it would not be legal. It is a beautiful way to show off huge ships as marketing tools, too.

It's only tournament legal in casual level events when the TO says it is, in advance. Huge ship rules, p4.
