Dash with stealth device?

By DoccSampson, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all,

I recently played in an escalation event where I used Dash Rendar for the first time, and what a beast he is. I kitted him out with Lone Wolf, Outrider, Mangler Cannon and Recon Spec. Between all the Lone Wolf rerolls and the 2 focus tokens I was not only dealing a ton of damage but also making him extremely hard to hit. On top of that I was keeping range 3 most of the time and using debris to gain extra green dice.

So I'm wondering if I have the extra points, is Stealth Device a viable option? Ideally I imagine him being almost impossible to hit. Range 3 shots will grant me 4 green dice, and an obstacle would give me 5. Plus Lone Wolf. Thoughts?

Here's the full list:

Dash Rendar

-Lone Wolf

-Outrider

-Mangler Cannon

-Homing Missiles or Cluster Missiles

-Recon Specialist

-Stealth Device

Poe Dameron

-VI

-Proton Torpedos (To maximize his focus ability)

-R2D2

-Autothrusters

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance.

He really wanted Engine Upgrade, so he can add arc dodging to his repertoire. It also gives him more options for dancing off of asteroids.

He doesn't really have enough agility to warrant a Stealth Device.

A stealth device will be lost in the first or second time Dash gets shot at. Instead, spend one more point and give him engine upgrade, or spend it on something else.

It could work, but you need to look at it realistically. It will grant substantial early-game protection against low quality massed attacks, and not much protection against high quality attacks. With Lone Wolf and Dash's inherent ability to keep range, you're in a good position to activate it. You just need to understand that it is not going to be an every-game upgrade. You might think about using your flexible points to try and make your list stronger against small, elite squads.

PS:

Dash without HLC is a crime. Drop your missiles and get the HLC.

Biophysical,

Having played against dash with HLC and having no problem keeping range 1 and smoking him, I am not a fan at all of HLC on outrider. That donut hole is WAY to easy to exploit.

Then your opponent was playing it wrong. Dash should be able to use obstacles (or boost) to get out of dodge of most enemies. Yes, there will be a couple rounds where that's impossible, but it shouldn't be enough for Dash to be in any way out of the fight.
