Some questions

By ovinomanc3r, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Well, I came with some questions. I have my own opinion, but I want to be sure.

Hyperspace Assault

1st. The text says "at" so could I deploy the ship out of distance 1 of the token if I keep a portion of the ship at distance 1? I think yes. RRG says "At: If any portion of a hull zone, base, or token is inside a specified band, that component is at that band". I am pretty sure but it means a lot options deploying the ship and it wouldn`t be the first time I miss something.

2nd. Either in Spanish or in English it is not clear to me if the tokens are deployed before or after the fleets deployment. It says "before deploying fleet, the second player stes aside 1 of his small or medium ships and...", then "he does not deploy them during setup. Then he place 3 objective tokens...". I think first you choose your hyperspace force, second, both players deploy their fleets and third, the second player place the tokens. The spanish text is really confusing but the english one doesn't help me more cause I am not sure if the "he does not deploy them during stup" clarification is just a clarification or a "deployment step". The english text put it as "special rule" of the objective and that is the reason I think it works as I said but the spanish put the text line as "setup". I know the english version take preference but I doubt I undestand the rules better than the translators and the spanish version is so ambiguous... Anyway: choose-deploy-place or choose-place-deploy?

Grit + Rogue

What happens if Han Solo is engaged with only 1 squadron during squadron phase? I think he could move and shoot a ship. He is prevented for shooting, not for moving so he could move and then, if he is not longer engaged is not prevented for shoot a ship.

Dash Rendar

Rendar is engaged with 3 or 4 squadrons. He roll 2 hits and 2 crits and he want 1 acc so he choose to keep the damage and reroll the 2 crits. He gets 1 hit and 1 crit. He could reroll 3-4 dice so he choose to reroll one of the first hits to have another chance to get the acc. Could he? A friend tried it but I didn't let him. He argue that he could reroll 3 dice and he was doing exactly that but I point at RRG (A “when” effect occurs at the moment that the specified event occurs and cannot occur again for that instance of the event). I said that when he trigger Rendar's ability he must choose how many dice he wanted to reroll (up to the allowed number). As long as he chose 2, he couldn't reroll the third. What way is the right one?

About Rendar again. It coul be stupid but, Rendar's ability let you reroll x dice, not reroll dice x times so if he is engaged with 5 squadrons he only could reroll 4 dice, right?

Fleet ambush

"The first player must deploy ships within the ambush zone on his odd-numbered deployment turn"

and

From RRG: "Squadrons must be placed within distance 1–2 of a friendly ship and may be placed outside of deployment zones."

Could I deploy squadrons (after deploying the ships, of course) within distance 1-2 of a ship in the ambush zone even out of the ambush zone?

Does squadrons must be deployed following the odd-numbered turns rule? I think no cause the objective card says just ships.

Thanks!

1 you are correct, the base doesn't have to be entirely within distance 1, only a portion of the base.

2 I believe you place your tokens before deploying the fleets.

Han: correct. He can move away from a single squadron, then he may choose to attack, and if he is no longer engaged he can attack a ship.

Dash: you choose how many dice you reroll up to the number of enemies you have, and reroll those dice. That's it. You can't then choose to reroll more dice if you have "leftover" rerolls.

Correct, the number refers to dice, not number of rerolls. If you are engaged with more than 4 you don't get an additional benefit.

Not 100% sure about Fleet Ambush without looking it up, but Dras, and DA are never far away.

Edit: ok, I looked it up, yes, I don't believe that squadrons must be placed either at alternating locations, or "within" the Ambush zone so long as they are at distance 1-2.

1. You're correct, At is at, as defined by the rules reference guide.

2. The 3 tokens go down before fleets are deployed.

3. Grit + rogue - Yes. He can use grit to move away from engagement, then shoot at a ship.

As for Fleet Ambush the squadrons can deploy outside the zone, within distance 1-2 of one of your cap ships
