Gozanti carrier question

By Diabloelmo, in X-Wing

So I'm drooling over the Assault Carrier expansion, and I've come across the ruling about what can be docked with it - TIE fighters, bombers, interceptors and advanced.

My question is - for this purpose, does the TIE/fo and TAP count as a fighter/advanced?

I can see a most reasonable argument against allowing the TIE/fo to dock - it's something like 40 years difference in tech, so it might simply not have the viable connectors or whatnot. On the other hand, the TAP is shown in Rebels to dock with the Gozanti, so it seems somewhat ludicrous that it wouldn't be able to.

The first one is a maybe, but aside from a few weirdos on these forums no one thinks that v1s count as x1s for any purposes.

The RRG says this about upgrades

Ship-type only: This upgrade can only be equipped to a ship of the specified type. If the ship’s type includes the entirety of the restricted type, it can equip that upgrade. For example,

a TIE/fo fighter can equip an Upgrade card restricted to “TIE Fighter only.

Assuming this is extended to rules like the carrier, then it seems reasonable that it will carry f/o. The advanced prototype I would think might be the same, after all vaders tie advanced X1 is still an advanced, but it's a specific far and maybe this might need the same...

I suspect it won't be the case, else they could equip the tie advanced title?

Vader's advanced counts as an advanced because it has the complete wording of "TIE Advanced", the TAP says "Adv." and thus does not qualify for the title etc.

Ah, I see.

Well, I hope that FFG FAQ's the Gozanti to allow for TAPs, if only for flavour reasons
