Warde's Foresight

By Arrakus, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

How is Warde's Foresight, Control: Success power compatible when your next check is a Force Power check? Does it automatically grant you white pips (presume lightside), does it not work at all (e.g. lose the success(es)) or does it skip rounds until there is an applicable (non-force power) check?

I would presume it would grant white/dark pips (as applicable). For if you lost the successes, then it is kind of waste or at least a less desirable ability to have. And if skips, then there could be potential for abuse as one is banking successes.

Thoughts?

I would certainly think it does not add any Force points. It would work fine if you are using a power as part of a check (rolling Force dice with a skill check), but not just a regular Force power check (rolling just Force dice).

Think about how the power actually works. Warde's Foresight gives success because you are reading the future of somebody else, so you add success because you are predicting their actions. Making a Force power check to generate Force points is an action that applies to the self (you are drawing on your own connection to the Force to do something).

You could also say that successes translate into not only if you succeed an action or not, but how well you perform the task; seeing the future gives you a clearer picture into what's going to happen, thus you can perform accordingly (translating mechanically into adding success). Generating Force points is simply drawing on a power source to allow you to perform actions; seeing the future of somebody else wouldn't allow you to tap into more power that you could use.

I do not disagree. So are you suggesting that if the following check is just a force power check (not combined with another skill check) then the success from the initial power are lost?

It would depend on the wording, I am AFB atm and I can't remember what it says. If the power states on the next skill check or on the next roll I would allow the effect to be used on the next skill roll (within reason), if it says on the first or next action then I would say that the successes are lost.

Yeah. Pretty much.
