Space Rocks has apparently been issued a C&D

By ziggy2000, in X-Wing

Mickey Mouse became envious of this fantastic product ... and FFG too, of course

You know we still might get the **** thing from FFG... Dat Mouse likes $$$!!!

:ph34r::mellow::lol:

Could happens...

;)

Could happens...

Other than for the fact that FFG said 150-200m was the largest ship they'd use for Epic, and the Neb is 300m.

Yeah, that could change. I don't think it's too likely but I hold out hopes.

As for fantastic product, having never got our mitts on it we don't know!

There was a post here about how the Neb B I think from Mel was in fact way to big to really be used in a epic game.

Concerning the letter, I just had to laugh at the combination of the warning content and happy Mickey Mouse smiling in the corner.

Actually I find that many people just care less than zero about it and trespass at will.

To make an example, I own a CrossFit Affiliate (thus paying my 3000$ every year) and I have to find every day that morons are advertising 'something' by calling it FitCrossing, CrossFitness, CrossThis and CrossThat or even CrossFit without affiliation.

It can be this, it can be a set of miniatures, a bag of sand, just plain whatever. If I pay, I have the rights on it and hold the knife by the handle.

True but they see that people will pay $250 for a Nebbie... and it got so popular that it got noticed by Dat Mouse... it is gonna be interesting to see if anything new happens in late 2016, after we get both of the SCUM Huges...

You're talking about Disney here, right? ;)

GW bringing specialist games back is a hail Mary but it won't work they've destroyed the good faith of their customers and have too much competition.

What's more they'll never price it at less than £70 and won't support it like they used to, back in the day we had white dwarf and other magazines adding rules monthly but I don't see that returning.

Bwahahahawhat?!

GW "brining back" Mordheim will get no love from me!

Not even a bit. You can get all the Mordheirm rules you'll ever need for free off the webs, and there are so many better mini makers out there for that.

If I'm going to spend $300 on Mordheim, as will be the case with anything new GW puts out, it'll be for the original softcover rulebook by that Tuomas fella and Priestly guy wrote!

I think they did, but it may have been Necromunda... Defo Gothic tho.

Honestly, Mordheim would sell better than AoS...

Gothic might be the biggest flop of them all. First thing people are going to do when it launches is draw paralkels wuth Armada, and I highly doubt GW staff has the knowledge to desugn somwthing even 20% as good.

Or even pick pick up that one of the lead writters for Gothic is now working with another compay making DropFleet Commander.... so they'll be no similarites in rules there then.... :\

It's like Marvel's "What If?" comics. They can put out a story discussing, "What if Tony Stark became the Hulk?" That story can even be popular enough to get its own action figure. However, it's up to Marvel editorial whether they want to actually make that story canon, and they control the rights to how that story is ultimately used.

I gotta say, i'd go watch that movie.

Look at some of the old team they had and the games they have done since, priestly, chambers, etc.

Bolt action, black powder, pike and shotte, hail ceased, dropzone commander, beyond the gates of Antares are ones which spring to mind although there are a few more. They let go of some very good games designers which made specialist games. I don't know if gw have the calibre of designers left or if they could attract the kind required to make them as good as they were

Are you saying that Disney came up with Star Wars?

Maybe. But time will tell.

I preordered one back in July or August. I emailed the guy for an update yesterday but I'm thinking I might have to take the hit.

Then again I did pay with PayPal so maybe a refund will materialise? I don't know.

I paid over paypal but do not have a paypal account, fairly sure I'm screwed there ,but researching into it.

In all honesty kinda written it off.

I put in my claim to Paypal as soon as I found out from here about the C&D. Hopefully I'll get a response soon.

Darius - I think Paypal still tracks the transaction and may still be able to help. You should send them an email about it, wouldn't hurt to try.

Yeah, will definitely do so.

To be fair, I did make that comment tongue in cheek. It still works pretty well with the Epic movement template.

No, but they payed the guy who did a crap ton of money so they could say they are now the keeper of it.

So what does that have to do with "thinking up ideas on their own" - which is what you said?

This is the problem with Intellectual Property. Not the right of a creator to his own product, but that once the creator has relinquished the product or (more often) died there is still some nebulous idea that an imaginary entity such as a corporation can claim the same rights as the artist.

Thoughts aren't property. They can be precious and may even need protection - but property rights is a dead wrong way to do it.

As I see it, Space rocks made the unforgivable crime of being stupid about it and getting caught. Could have called it a Zuebulon C cruiser, and maybe given it the XvT style hangar deck and would have been completely safe. Also, posting it on amazon may have been an error.

Not to mention talking about things /posting links on the offical forums of a licence holder........
