Is it just me or do bombers not actually fit on the Gozantis docking claws?

By Gadge, in X-Wing

Yes but a full peg leaves them hovering in mid air as said.

You could possibly cut down four pegs to make them look better but tbh i think i'll just put four advanced on it to represent the bombers until they launch.

So not only are you bragging about having got your Gozanti already, you're now just rubbing it in by not-so-subtly telling us you have 4 TIE Advanced :)

Thats no secret, its been on my sigfile since the raider came out :)

I kind of figured from the images on the previews that TIE Bombers would struggle to fit; the docking tubes have a spherical attachment, after all. I also wondered how tight a fit bombers would be given they have twin hulls as opposed to the TIE/Interceptor/Advanced's one.

Still, I'm loving my Gozanti, it's an awesome model and I'll definitely be picking up a second one!

Presumably all you'd need for a Q&D work-around would be a blob of Blu-Tac ?

That couch is a strange colour.

The revelation that you can't dock a mixed type carrier squadron had me sad, and I'm sure we will house-rule it at some point. I already have one friend who wants to put TIE Defenders on it.

Me? I just can't wait to hang four Punishers under that thing. Prolly need some duct tape... :)

BTW - what's the fastest straight maneuver the Goz can do?

any chance of a pic of the dial ?

The couch is an olive green leather with walnut fittings. It looks fine in the context of a very 30s styled living room with other vintage furniture and wood flooring :)

Punishers might not fit more than two underneath, its not that wide.

Fastest straight is four ahead which recovers 1 energy.

three ahead recovers 1 as well

two ahead gains two energy and one ahead is three energy

turns are left and right 2 for a gain of 1 energy and left and right 1 for a gain of two.

Obviously the tie fighter dial is the same.

The advantage of being 'docked' is that a docked ship is immune to being attacked. if the gozanti is destroyed (or takes certain critical damage) the ships detach with 1 point of facedown damage assigned.

It just lets you 'shield' your ties until they are at close range... less chance of lucky long range fire picking them off.

And the couch, well one of the accompanying chairs, in context (and with me and my dog!)

Obviously, the dog needs a dye job ... :P :D

Well I'll be damned, that is a nice looking couch after all. I retract my statement.

the dog let me down, i wanted a goth dog and when he was a pup he was jet black all over. He's a lovely lad though so i've forgiven him for growing up ginger.

I'll also point out that any who hasn't been nosey and looked at the rest of the photos in that bucket really should... I think we have a time traveller on our hands..

Seeing how I will probably never play an "official event" epic game.... oh yeah, my Gozantis is carrying any assortment of TIEs it wants. Are you going to tell Vader or the Emperor that it isn't legal?

Oh i live in the past. My job is writing articles on military history and wargaming so i have a house full of uniforms and 1940s stuff (civilian and military) and i do re-enacting and larping as a hobby.

I'm probably the best equipped guy in my street come the zombie apocalypse :)

Body armour? yeah got several sets, respirators? how many do you need? Chainmail suit?.. yeah I can sort you that out.... Huge bloody axe? Think i've got one under the stair cupboard somewhere, hang on....

Yeah thats been suggested on reddit but them you have a wierd looking thing where the bombers are suspended about a centimetre out of the clamps better than nothing but still a pretty major design fail.

If you're going to make a model that can carry 'ship x' its a good idea to check it actually can before selling it :)

Going on from the stem idea, could you cut a stem done and then glue it back together so that it has both ends? Not sure how well the integrity would hold up but seems possible.

It could work is the stems are the sort of plastic that takes to 'liquid poly' cement.

Liquid poly 'melts' the two parts together, often the bond is stronger than the original plastic.

Try pulling apart old gw tanks stuck together with liquid poly and normally the parts tear apart leaving the glued bits stuck to each other!

just magnet it.

I think if you had some extra stems it would not be too hard to make shorter extension stems that would allow the bombers to dock. a 1/4 peg, if you will.

Yes, you'd just have to cut the bottom and top 8th off a stem and bond them togehter as unfortunately you need both male and female ends to make them dock in this way.

Im personally more inclined to use the blu tac option, less messing about

The docking clamps are a gameplay mechanic. I expect that actually undocking the ships in game WITHOUT disturbing the position of the carrier itself could be quite problematic. As such, during actual gameplay, I'd bet that most players will not physically dock the ships, and that it will become primarily for display purposes when attached. Could be wrong, but as a clumsy player myself (which you can plainly see in the videos on our YouTube Channel in my signature) I doubt I'll actually attach the ships unless they are really quite easy to detach. However, that might make them fall off haphazardly.

Who knows. The physical docking is cool but seems complicated during gameplay. Especially if you were to ever play in an epic tournament with your Gozanti, I doubt people will bother with the extra time and complication of detaching the ships and mounting them on pegs for gameplay.

All this being said, my Gozanti WILL have a place of honor in my office, complete with four docked TIE Fighters, when it is not on the table.

Not too hard to remove mine, just dont push them in too far.

We'll need custom docking clamps for Tie Bombers.

This. Somebody with CAD chops should be able to work up a nice snug spacer. It even makes sense, fluff-wise, that the Imperial navy would need an adapter kit, probably with a seven character long alphanumeric designation, to dock bombers to clamps designed for fighters.

They've got to have lots of different clamp versions-- I just watched the second episode of Rebels, where the Imperials use a Gozanti to drop two AT-DP walkers. Those are not in any way shaped like TIEs.
