Saw it twice (Thursday at 11:59pm and again Friday morning at 3:15am), the first time was to enjoy, the second time to analyze.
It didn't suck.
The Force Awakens makes the assumption that you already know the Star Wars universe, so this cannot be treated as a reboot of the series, where origin stories are retold. In that respect, the pacing seemed at times a bit slow.
That said, there were some laughs, some tears, some "whoa" moments, and some "yeaaah!" moments. There were many parallels between this movie and the original trilogy which some people would pass off as lack of originality, but I think in the case of this movie, were valid for setting the tone and bringing back the "feel" of the Star Wars universe, and were needed to recover the series from some of the mistakes the prequels made. But, there were also several new things that really helped to invigorate the movie.
The movie does leave you with a few unanswered questions (we all know Episode 8 is going to answer them in May of 2017) which some people see as plot holes. But knowing this is a serial, Episode 7 serves as a gateway movie to pass the torch to the next generation of characters.
Go see it. It didn't suck.
