Spoilers: My take on Phasma

By GrimmyV, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Speaking of characters that didn't get fleshed out in the movie, what about Lor San Tekka? When he first appeared and the whole movie kind of said 'hey we remember this guy, don't you remember this guy? He totally knows the Princess and he apparently was somebody when he was younger', I was trying to place his face with minor male characters from the original trilogy. Dodonna? He knew the Princess but was elderly at Yavin. Rieekin? Maybe, but still pushing it on age. Mon Mothma with a sex change?

Oh wait, it was Lor San Tekka. Remember him? I mean you should because he was painted as such a known figure in the film and we were supposed to show some amount of feeling at his death.

I realize that Captain Antilles was given a similar treatment in A New Hope, but he had 20 seconds of screen time. Lor had 3 minutes give or take of exposition, interrogation, and execution. When a character is given that much back to back screen time, you at least need to be named on screen.

Ah, impatience, we truly live in the Now times.

Enjoy the wait, the mystery, think up your own stories about him, we don't need every nook and cranny filled with the light of exposition.

Don't forget that we don't find out the name of the emperor until the prequels

No we knew his full name emperor Palpatine, any other is a treasonous lie.

Actually on the Kenner (ESB) Darth Vader's Star destroyer box it says "Darth talks to the Grand Vizier."

Just saying ;)

Palpatine was an EU name until the prequels. They could've named him Chancellor FluffBuns Hopsikins and that would've been his name. Emperor Fluffbuns. Jarjarring isn't it?

Imagine if Phasma eventually becomes good - Like suppose she deactivated the shield so easily, because deep down she knew this weapon- destroying multiple planets at once- was wrong and dishonorable? Maybe she ends up leaving the first order and becoming a bounty hunter? Oh man that would be awesome and would contribute significantly to her character development..... (well she doesn't have to become a bounty hunter specifically, but having a crisis of conscience about it would be huge).

I wonder how many New order people got off starkiller base before it blew up?

Also the rebels really should hang around in the area to pick off/capture any escaping vessels, rather than immediatly flying back home for cake and medals.

I actually hope she doesn't turn bounty hunter, she already reminds me enough of Boba Fett as it is.

Boba Fetts daughter confirmed!

And picking off fleeing ships is smart, but when you know there's cake being served and you'll miss it if you're late, you're gonna rush home to the mess hall for a slice. I don't fault Poe and the Damerons for racing off for cake.

Albeit one used in the novelizations of the movies.

My personal take on Phasma disarming the shields was that it did not represent that much of a risk. What was going to attack? All the Republic Capitol ships were destroyed or in disarray, the main gun was going to wipe out the resistance in a few minutes and the most the resistance had was a few X-Wings. Which, until a hole was opened, were starting to loose badly, having lost over half their fleet to no real affect. And she may have just been thinking they needed the shields lowered so they could escape. Overall, neither scenario was a great risk to the first Order.

Apparently he's going to be a protagonist in Rogue One, though I don't have a source for that.

Pretty sure she was HR.

I feel the novelizations and radio dramas should be a little higher in the canon food chain than 'mere legends'.

He was Palpatine way back in 1976. How soon we forget.
