What would you like to see in the episode 8

By amrothe, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'd love to see Supreme Leader Snoke turn out to be Darth Plagueis.

I'd love to see a reference to Mara jade even if she turns out to be dead at the time of the new movies. (Could that be what caused luke to go into hiding)

I want to see wedge! and more R2D2

Having mara jade and luke skywalker for parents could explain rey's extrodinary abilities, which seem to echo Anakin's power level with training and far outstrips any other untrained force sensative.

I'd love to see luke agree to train her and watch his character come full circle.

I'd love to see force ghosts especially anakin coming to rey and this really really pissing off ben/kylo ren.

I'd love more background on the sides in the new war and more histoty of what happened to luke and the "NJO"

Luke went into hiding because of Kylo Rens massacre of his students.

I want answers about Rey. Really hoping for some.

I agree with all your points. First and foremost I want to see a unique movie, not another reiteration of what we had already.

- Force sensitives coming out of hiding

- The Jedi temple being rebuilt

- Coruscant in general

- The New Republic getting set up

- Loads of cool new ships

Primarily the start of an epic conclusion to the 9 part story. I don't want some re-hash of Empire Strikes Back.

I would like a setup for an actual END. Set it up for another 1000 years of peace with new lessons learned at the galactic social level.

Cloning and re-cloning all these themes of new Death Stars and new Dark Lords is tiresome and not that interesting. As TCW showed and Rebels are showing, there are a billion stories waiting to be told within the time period between E1 and E9. That's more than enough to work with, and more than enough to keep the franchise alive and healthy for ... basically forever.

Mara jade will never show up. The EU was tossed. They may borrow concepts. The likelihood of using actual names of characters from the EU is very low if non-existent.

I'd like to see more ground vehicles like walkers and stuff. And more Mark Hammill. He looked pretty convincing as the old wise-dude.

I DON'T want to see Rey be in any way a relative of any of the old characters. There's already one son. I hope the series doesn't turn into The Star Wars Kids.

This is obivously a spoiler thread. If you haven't seen the movie, I accept no responsiblity in the spoilers I let slip.

My desire for episode 8:

- What is it that happened between Luke and Ben? There is this indication that his horrific betrayal happened which had Luke's group killed off. I want to learn the reason behind Ben's complete rejection of the light, because something horrific happened there that Luke is at least partly responsible for. We know the aftermath but not the cause.

- To see Rey trained in a matter that suits her for her. To me, Luke represents one of the old order, a last Jedi trained to defeat Vader. Whatever he taught hadn't worked, so maybe this period in exile has uncovered something?

- To see the wider war unfold from Poe's and Flins perspective. Flin has only just started his hero's journey in overcoming the sheer terror of the first order, it will be interesting to see how he becomes a hero in the same manner as Poe already is.

- To see the resistance and republic dealt a huge blow that dramatically raises the stakes for the final movie.

- Luke Fighting his apprentice and choosing to offer his life up; in much the same manner that Obi-Wan and Solo did before them. Leaving a fully trained Rey to assume his mantle. I mean, we've all seen it done once, but it will happen again. Possibly even taking his apprentice with him to ensure the skywalker line remains dormant.

- The identity of the real big bad behind Kylo Ren. Most likely inquisitors. I don't think his idenity was at all important to reveal yet, the Emperior didn't make an appearance until episode 8, and it wasn't until the last movie that we saw him in the flesh.

- INTRODUCTION OF THE SPINNING LIGHTSABERS! (Errects the flame shield) XD In all seriousness, it would be funny to have a Inindia Jones moment where one turns up, and it's oneshotted. That and I don't think they are a bad idea for the uninitiated.

I just want Luke to do something... Say something. Not just stand there!

I also do not want star wars: Their kids. The galaxy is so much bigger then that.

I would like to Fin either as Force Sensetive, or at least using a vibrosword/lightsaber

I hope Rey isn't anyone's kid, honestly. It would be much more profound if she inherits the heroic legacy by choice rather than parentage.

What I want? No freakin' Planet Sized Planet Killer.

Something I found interesting is i did a search for "Force Awakens cast " in Bing and it intrestingly listed the Character of "Ren" (Daisey Rider) as "Margie"

http://www.bing.com/search?q=force+awakens+cast&qs=n&form=QBRE&scope=web&pq=force+awakens+cast&sc=3-18&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=0AF5A12EBC6B4731BE8BAE1717CBFB70

Now "Margie" isn't that far from "Mara", but the powers that be said that all the Novels regarding Jacen and Mara were no longer Canon so maybe they are going to run their own version.

Does anyone else think that if they introduce Ren's mother is Episode 8 it will be Keira Knightly? I hope so because they are very similar in look and speech.

Mara Jade - or someone seeming very likely to be her - is pictured in an early promotional picture for Rebels alongside the emperor.

So maybe...

Who was Max Von Sydow really and why did he wait so long to give the information on Luke up? Why did he give it up at all, what happened that changed his mind?

Who is Rey? I get she had the Force test moment with Luke's lightsaber, but Maz's comment about no one ever coming back makes me wonder.

What is that story about Maz getting Luke's saber? Is that something we will see explained in the trilogy or a not so subtle hook for a 3rd anthology movie or something to be explored in a Netflix show?

More Maz baby.

To see Finn become the new Han Solo, he lies like a mother and is a smart ass, so it should be natural.

To see Poe developed more.

More Chewie blasting people with his bowcaster.

They've got the 'team' split up, so maybe a cool new ship for Poe and Finn to zip around in wherever they are going to end up.

Lotsa of potential plot hooks and story easter eggs for nerds to argue over for decades to come.

A great end scene. I don't want a duplication of Empire but there is something about the final scene in Empire with Luke and Leia looking out the medical frigate window, the star field view, Falcon flying off, the film music score, it was all just sort of perfect in my mind.

Obviously I want the simpering Republic to be crushed beneath our boots as we reinstate our rightful place in the galaxy. Our newest sith to be fully trained in our ways so that he may finish what he started and end the line of pathetic jedi once and for all. For Phasma to somehow come through her 2 minutes of terrible screen time unharmed by blaming someone else (as is our way).

Was thinking about this myself. Many people assume it dropped into the gas giant, but Luke wasn't. The lightsaber could easily have been snatched up in some tube much like Luke was and recovered by some maintenance robot. Hmmm a series about how the lightsaber made its way from Cloud City to Maz. An anthology series like the Dead Man's Gun would be cool .

I want to see more civilized environments, and more detailed surroundings. I know that's not Abrams' strong suit, but I have hope.

From Mos Eisley to Bespin to the Ewok villages, the locales of the original trilogy felt lived-in and real. I loved that attention to visceral detail -- it was something that Peter Jackson really nailed in the Lord of the Rings. But Lucas overcompensated a bit too much in the PT by giving too much emphasis on the backdrop -- it was a loss of immersion via green screen. It was a case of substance (OT) vs. density (PT).

Abrams reclaimed some of the OT's "substance", but he's not "that kind of director", so he does the minimum required, and goes from there. The action and pace is so fast that you don't necessarily notice the absence of "stuff" (it's technical sleight of hand). I think this is why we had a small salvage camp surrounded by nothing at all and a temple-bar surrounded by nothing at all: they build what substantial edifices they need to convince you it is "real" and then kind of bypass the rest.

So full marks for what they DID create, but...do more of it, and slow it down a bit. Let us soak it in. Show us a fully realized world -- not a thumbnail sketch of one. I'm an immersive viewer: I love the *experience* of science fiction and fantasy. I can get immersed in the action just fine -- and I loved it to death in TFA. But I don't think I'll want that for the other 2 movies of this trilogy.

I loved The Force Awakens, but felt a lot of it was dedicated to resetting up Star Wars and showing us all again just how awesome it can all be.

With the follow ups I want them to give us a bit more worldbuilding. Introduce a few planets, give us a bit more of the state of the Universe. Everything we saw in FA was from the Perspective of The New Order and the Resistance, let's see a bit outside that bubble.

That said, don't get so bogged down in it and politics that it slows down a good story. Just touch on things here and there to help fill in some blanks.

...and I want to see Rey kick but with a lightsaber.

I know what I DON'T want to see, and that's a rehash of ESB.

I highly, highly, highly doubt we'll get a rehash of ESB. Rian Johnson isn't that kind of writer/director, and I have faith we'll get something awesome. TFA had to win us back, and it did - now they can show us what Kathleen Kennedy and company can do.

THAT was a perfect ending, absolutely. So strong in every aspect.

It's the reason it will be nigh on impossible to knock Empire from #1 in my eyes ever.

I'm not sure what I want to see at this point, but I know what don't want to see. Please, please no new Starkiller that is half-built but still operational...

But then what will Kylo Ren throw Snokes down the central shaft at the end of Ep IX?

*is confused*
