Thanks for this. Really cool!
You're doing god's work, mu0n. Or whatever passes for god in a galaxy far away.
Have the HotAC assets been merged into the main module, or do we still need the extra file as before?
Thanks for all of the hard work!
Sadly, I will keep the Hotac extension away from the main module. I didn't even have time to check out the campaign as a player, let alone deal with the changes that have already come and will keep coming in the future.
Very cool! Thanks a lot, Mu0n. Your efforts to keep X Wing Vassal updated are really appreciated!

Re: Undocking.
The most simple solution would probably be to generate a maneuver template from the eligible deployment points, have players manually place their ship from their hand to that location, and resolve any collisions as normal.
You could also presumably have it work similar to Emon's bomb spawner, where the carrier generates their maneuver template, and then players can select to generate one of four classes of ships from that template. However, they'd still need to assign values to that ship once spawned, which seems like it would drag things down.

Yes, but I'm closing in on a 2-step semi-automatic solution
Click on the carrier ship, using a shortcut (I think I had it at alt-U or something), receive a verbose confirmation in the chatlog, click on the small ship, perform the same shortcut, and it'd be rotated, translated at the right place whereas if you perform a move with that ship, it'll exit the carrier normally with the move of your choice. If it collides, just hit C and carry out the collision like you always do.
Edited by Mu0nYeah, yours is way better than either of my ideas, do that
I've noticed that there's some oddness with setting the small and big tags, at least on the TIE Fighter ship. I've got the HotAC 1.1 and HotAC Custom mods installed, so I don't know if that's having an effect or not.
I haven't narrowed down exactly what happens, but it seems like setting the big text actually sets the small, and vice versa, both via the right click menu, and via hotkeys.
My guess is that the developer of those extensions deliberately inversed them without also changing their description. Can't know for sure, I'm not in their heads and we don't report to each other after I spent some time answering some basic module editing questions to help him on his way.
Edited by Mu0nThanks again for your work, Mu0n!
The community's incredibly lucky to have you and your team!
The team is pretty much me and my main man Clayton Ryder who are regulars and up to the task when regular stuff is previewed and released. One can't understate the sideline contributions of helpers who provide pre-made ship logfiles to help with squad building (Gary on TC) and random scans of stuff that's released in the retail faster than where I live.
edit - right now, no one with the Gozanti in hand is rising to the call of bringing the last upgrade cards (titles and otherwise) and its damage cards. I'll have to scan it by hand on Tuesday when I might maybe get mine.
Edited by Mu0nQuick question - I'm very new to Vassal and I completely understand why the card details aren't included but how do you guys organize to play? Do you have the cards next to you to remind you what you have, do you use print-outs from sites like "Yet Another Squad Builder", or is there a way of adding the card details/scans in?
To be very clear, I'm not trying to circumvent anything, I started less than a year ago and have already spent nearly $1000, I'm just trying to figure out how to use this effectively without having a sprawling mass of cards next to my PC.
Great work, by the way. Really like what I've seen so far thank you for doing this.

You keep the cards in your hand (where your damage deck is kept and where you set your dials). As to the actual card effects, most of it just comes from having played this game enough that you remember what cards are supposed to do off the top of your head. If there's any question on it, it's pretty easy to pop over to a squad builder or XWMG wiki article for a refresher.

You can permalink and bookmark your lists to make your life easier. Then, while your opponent is setting up, you can run his squad through the squad builder as well.

Ya if it's ever an issue, just ask your opponent for a link to their list. A lot of players will have one. If they don't, politely ask they give you a minute to punch it in yourself.
Most vassal players have a very high knowledge of the game, and thus have an understanding of every card except maybe the most recently released ones. This obviously isn't a requirement to play on vassal, but I mention it because this is a non issue for these players as they have the card effects memorized. You play the game enough, and you will likely get there too. ![]()
Hey Mu0n, thanks for all the hard work! I love Vassal as a tool to improve my x-wing games. I just have a question you might be able to help me with. Since I downloaded the latest module I can't seem to be able to save my files anymore. Everytime I try to save it just says "Unable to write file". I can still play everything but I have to build my lists from scratch everytime... I tried uninstalling everything and downloading it again but the problem persists. Any ideas? Thanks for the help and happy holidays to all of you ![]()
