Dodonna's Pride + Precision Strike?

By Cuthawolf, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey,

So I was wondering if Dodonna's Pride is capable of using both the Precision Strike Effect (When a Squadron with Bomber or a ship is attacking, it may spend 1 die with a damage icon to flip one random facedown damage card on the defender faceup) during the Modify dice step (Step 3 of Attack) and then also resolving its critical effect(Blue Critical: Cancel all attack dice to deal 1 faceup damage card to the defender) during the Resolve Damage damage step?(Step 5 of Attack)

My thought is it works because you're still cancelling all remaining attack dice when you resolve the Pride effect, but a friend has pointed out that it does say all attack dice on Pride, not all remaining attack dice. Thoughts?

You get to choose what order things go in, so yes, you can choose to trigger Precision Strike, and then Dodonna's Pride.

Totally allowable.

You are rolling your pool and generating Dice results in Step 2 of the attack.

As no additional timing has been specified (other than While Attacking), you would have to assume that Step 3, Modify Dice, is where you are indeed, electing to turn HIT into Flipped Cards.

Those Dice are Spent, removed, Gone. Same as ACC that are spent there too.

Then, in Step 5 is where you resolve your Critical Effect.

Of course, none of this stops someone merely evading/rerolling/cancelling your Blue Crit during Step 4 to nullify that effect.

In the end, it boils down to the fact that it is allowable, but generally speaking, its going to be something that doesn't happen all that often... Because it really only works reliably on a short ranged CR90B (It will work on a CR90A, but you're banking a lot on a single die at times)

Read it carefully, it says flip 1 facedown damage card ON the defender faceup. The card must already be dealt to the defender, so dodonna would not apply, as it only when a damage card is DEALT to the defender

The question was not if the flipped card triggered Dodonna himself, but if one can perform both Precision Strike and Dodonna's Pride (the CR90 title, not the admiral)
