Intel vs Escort

By X Wing Nut, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Intel gives a enemy squadron Heavy but if that squadron has Escort do I still have to attack it?

If attacking a squadron, you must attack one with escort over any squadron without escort, regardles of if that suqad has heavy or not.

You could attack a ship intead in that situation though as escort does noting to prevent attacking ships.

RRG, Page 2, Squadron Keywords

• Escort: Squadrons you are engaged with cannot attack squadrons that lack escort unless performing a counter attack.

• Heavy: You do not prevent engaged squadrons from attacking ships or moving.

You are still engaged with that Squadron. However, you are no longer bound by the cannot move requirement, or the cannot attack ships requirement.

If you elect to attack a Squadron, you are still bound by the Escort rule - and you must attack that Escorting Squadron.

The only thing (at first glance) that removes engagement between Fighter Squadrons, is an Obstacle which blocks Line of Sight .
