God dammit. Now I have a huge craving for dim sum.
- NO ONE is stopping you from printing the cards out.
...
- Give FFG some credit where credit is due. They deserve to get paid for their effort!
Well I made it through six pages before deciding to post.
If one thinks this game is expensive then I wonder what he thinks of any of the collectable games that are sold in random packs. There may be varying levels of play in MtG but if you want to play at the highest levels each of your decks is likely to cost as much as an X-Wing squadron. Change your MtG deck to a different color and you're probably looking at paying full price for the change while changing from one X-Wing squadron to another will often mean you have some overlap in upgrades even if all of the ship models change.
Even if we move away from the paper crack that is MtG we might look at WotC's random boost skirmish games for Star Wars and DnD. Sure it was possible to build some cheap squad/bands but when you started to ramp up in competitiveness you'd be looking at a lot more rare and very rare pieces and you'd also see high value uncommon pieces at very high prices. I can remember a time when $5 may have been a good price from a stupid little 3 point Mouse Droid as everyone wanted/needed two or more. I know I never procured many of the power pieces when the games were still commonly played but I'm thinking I spent as much, or even more, on them than I do buying for X-Wing.
I can't compare X-Wing to many of the other miniature games because they were just too much to get started.
I'm sure others have said this, but I'm an adult and if I can't afford to buy models I won't go hungry.
As for your mention of the raider.... Yeah it's got some nice cards, but they are not game breaking cards, just make the tie advance a bit better. Lastly I'm really not bothered about the new tie defender coming out because Ffg support their game very well, so I'd rather the game kept alive and well
That was perfect.

Perfect.
This post actually made me laugh. Is this real? Someone complaining that they "have" to buy expansions to play. It is a hobby. If you no longer have time or fun then you sell it. Get a new hobby. I have no plan to get everything just ships I like. I may not win tournaments but at least it is what I like to play.

Welcome Star Brother... welcome!

As a person just getting into it, I can understand his frustration. I have very few ships myself and constantly get my ass handed to me because I can't afford all the ships and upgrades needed to be viable.
That being said however, the group of guys I play with will let me borrow their cards and ships so I can pick and choose what I want to get before I spend a ton of money.
FFG is a business, and under our free-market economy, they have a right to charge what ever they want for their expansions. So in theory, they could easily change $50 per small ship and $200 for epic ship. Now, they wouldn't have many players at all if they did that so they won't because they wouldn't be able to stay in business because no one would buy their product (that's why I haven't gotten into IA). So supply and demand is what makes the prices. $15-$20 per small ship is what allows FFG to cover their cost, make a profit, and allow as many people as possible to enjoy their product. To me, that's a win, win, win.

Kinda funny too... after 50 times you just make a cute little cartoon and post it, and just skip trying to help these people.
Yeah that is it.

Ah jumpmaster of course thx.
No probs Brah.
You lost me when you claimed a kid was robbing a house for xwing money. Laughed my @$$ off for 30 minutes though.

I gave dude a few minutes in the first topic... have not read anything since.
Keep in mind that we are stupid victims of the evil that is FFG.

Too long, didn't read.

Can we be more inclusive to players who want to own all models multiple times but don't want to spend money on it? Thanks.

Is colgeneralvatutin working for FFG? You know, false flag to get us to defend FFG for cranking out so much awesome product recently, especially the reasonably priced Imp Vets box with my two favorite TIEs. I see through the deception, I know what they're doing...how dare they give us exactly what we asked for and then send this guy to goad us into defending their fiendish practices. Diabolical!

You, sir, are a paranoid genius. May I subscribe to your manifesto?

To attain validity one must argue intelligently.
Let's get back on topic.
Sweet breakfast or savory breakfast?
Or both?
I say both. I just love getting scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage and then pour maple syrup on all of it. Great eating that is.
X-wing is by far the most cost effective miniatures game I have played. compare what you need to buy for X-wing VS 40k and its staggering! X-wing is a very approachable game and for about 100-150 you can be into it with all you need to have fun for 2 COUNT EM! 2 players to play. I have been collecting since wave 1 so maybe I don't worry about the 4 purchases of new stuff I make a year to stay current but its very affordable. Yes I have no real use for a raider or C90 except for the small ship and cards and that is a little of a drag but those cards have never been a all list auto include. C3PO was the only one that was a must have and even that was only to make a single list work. I have no serious issue with their business model compared to 41 dollars for half a firkin squad of marines! Seriously if GW was running this an A-wing would cost 36 dollars!
And that A-Wing would be unpainted and unassembled. So there's that added expense of glue and painting supplies to the $36 cost of the mini itself.
