Poe Dameron.

By ClavainRS, in X-Wing

I doubt the TIE/fo mass produced ship is significantly harder to fly that a regular TIE fighter. It's probably easier since it can handle the stress of maneuvers better.

X-wing pilots get a chance to fly TIEs in simulators, if I'm remembering X-wing the PC game correctly. X-wing the PC game is canon to reality.

As far as Wedge surviving, that's the mark of a veteran.

Poe Dameron did all those fancy maneuvers with the help of his droid.

R2-D2 was murdered by Darth Vader before Luke made his shot down the exhaust port.

Is Jar Jar Binks dead by now at least?

Senator Binks was dissolved with the rest of the senate at A New Hope.

Wedge flew thru the second death star by following the Falcon, a ship much larger flying thru spaces it could fit thru first..

I actually don't know how to do spoiler buttons, but Poe kind of one-ups that a bit.

none of the fictional exploits of fictional pilots matter

what matter is that Poe was having a god **** blast in that thing, and therefore so was I

in game terms, gameplay > fluff always

Hell, honestly... I sustain that he's equal if not better than Han. Han's good, but is he REALLY better than Lando..?

#TeamLando

Did you forget that time that Han flew through an Asteroid field? Sorry, but Han may very well be the best pilot in the galaxy.

TFA spoiler:

Well, WAS anyway.

Basically.

Now, to his credit... He DID fly a T-65 X-Wing through the Death Star II and THAT AIN'T EASY..!

But to his discredit Lando did it better. Honestly, I think Lando should be PS8.

Lando was using the most imbalanced Hunk'o'junk in the galaxy.

period

Poe can use the whole array of the x-wings abilities to great advantage. ......S-Foils....

Needs his PS upped to 10. That is all.

Nah, still a rookie compared to Cheese Wedge

But like, Wedge didn't actually do anything impressive in the movies. He shot a couple TIE Fighters and threw some torpedoes at a big giant still object with no defenses whatsoever.

Poe on the other hand did that and then some.

This isn't because Wedge isn't a good pilot so much as it is the film techniques differed so much back then and they couldn't make it as impressive as they can now

Are you seriously using meta/real world limitations to argue the capability of pilot skill?

For real, are you..?

Poe Dameron had a better special effects budget and the best korean animators of all time.

Poe Dameron also had more than five minutes of screentime.

Darth Vader was an ace pilot in A New Hope and the movie showed it despite the 1977 special effects. Wedge was just a guy who kept inexplicably surviving.

Because he's sure as hell better than most pilots out there. **** that man can fly..! I mean, not only did he fly it through the Death Star II, but he aced bigtime in the fleet battle! He was a huge target, but outflew countless TIE Fighters.

Hell, honestly... I sustain that he's equal if not better than Han. Han's good, but is he REALLY better than Lando..?

It is Christmas, so everyone should get +1 pilot ability!

Except Jar Jar...

It'll never happen, but it'd warm the cold cockles of my heart to have old man Wedge show up in Ep VIII and tell Poe "Not bad kid. Here, lemme show you how it's done", then fly circles around him

TFA spoiler:

Well, WAS anyway.

WAS indeed, he gets outflown by Rey so hard it isn't funny. First time piloting that starship, through a wrecked SD? Getting shot at? Native PS11, that girl.

Poe got himself a better craft, wedge keeps the old hunk but out-ranks him in the PS department

Needs his PS upped to 10. That is all.

The techincal limitations definately effected how scenes looked. A scene like the Poe mmmmonster kill simply wasn't possible in 1977, so Wedge, Luke, and Vader didn't get to display their skills at full capacity. Compare Ep 3 dogfights to episode 4, and it looks like Anakin's skills regressed to PS 7. There were even entire scenes featuring B-wings doing torpedo runs that never made it on film due to them appearing nearly invisible on screen.

Veteran Instincts does that.

Yeah, but it shouldn't cost even a point to get him to 10, it should be inherent. Seriously.

9 maybe. 9's the cap, because otherwise you can hit 12. Pilot Skill 12 is the "beats everything" number used for pilot skill buffing abilities.

I'm not a fan of any pilot, other than Vader who is the best pilot the galaxy has ever seen, having a PS of 9 naturally. The argument for Han is he got the jump on Vader in IV. Wedge did survive 2 Death Stars and the Battle of Hoth. Everyone else is suspect...

Han also made the Kessel Run in 14 parsecs!

And Fel is Manfred von Richthofen Star Warsified.

Never heard of Talonbane.

I see wedge closer to a real ace while poe is just the flawless unstoppable superhero that we see at everyturn nows

Nah, you guys have it all wrong, Rey can fly the pants off of poe. Even Han never flew the falcon like that.

I'm calling him "the Po Po from now on."

It'll never happen, but it'd warm the cold cockles of my heart to have old man Wedge show up in Ep VIII and tell Poe "Not bad kid. Here, lemme show you how it's done", then fly circles around him

Im still hoping Luke flies his T-65 in the next one.

but I wedge would be great to.

Might be off topic, but this would be awesome (in my opionion)

The Heros are fleeing from the FO, and General Hux Is talling to a Tie Pilot.

"Take the 181st and HUNT THEM DOWN!"

"Yes Sir! I won't let you down."

"Let's hope not, you have a name to uphold, Lieutenant Fel."

Besides Vader in ANH and one episode of the show Rebels have we ever been shown an Imperial Ace? I mean I get it, only the good guys get to be ace pilots. But it would be nice to see ace Imperial/FO pilots in some of the upcoming movies (until they get shot down due to plot reasons)

Besides General Veers of course, the Empire's most elite ace that happens to be in an AT-AT.

Dennis Lawson turned down a role in TFA because there wasn't anything for him to do. The scene where he would have showed up should be pretty obvious to anyone who has seen the movie, and yeah, he might have had a line or two and that's it.

It would have been nice to see him but I get on some level why he turned it down. On another level though come on man, it's Star Wars, even if you didn't get to do much in the original movies either it would have been a nice nod. There were a couple other characters making 'cameos' in the same scene, after all.

Han made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs....

Oh really? My my.
