The Force Awakens. Your reaction? (Spoilers)

By JJFDVORAK, in X-Wing

All canon is equal excpet the movies are more equal.

I haven't read any of the Nu canon stuff but I was able to follow the movie. I also haven't read any of the Legends stuff in over 15 years either, I just could t stand it any more. Glad it was junked. The new stuff coming out today may be junked eventually in he future as well, so why bother unless someone says you should read it because it's actually good. And the only thing anyone has said was good has been the Vader Comic, so I will wait for the trade to come out to read it.

I like most of the new comics but the Vader and the core Star Wars are the best.

I will champion the Vader comic til the end of my days. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to see Vader in his Sith Lord prime doin work, and this is the closest I think I'll get. The artwork alone tells an amazing story.

That comic is all kinds of awesome.

I am extra happy this week   :D

You're one of a kind Joe!

Never change!!

If the new canon gets full of junk will they just reset again?

Depends, suppose in ep VIII we find out the midicholrians saved Han. Would people like that or hate it?

Depends. Will they have led him to a hidden N-1 starfighter that he then uses to escape the blast? When the ship autopilots back to Naboo, how many lines of gungan dialogue will there be as they welcome Han?

Jar Jar's contribution to the prequel plot was to be the guy trusting enough to hand dictatorial power over to Chancellor Palpatine. That's an important plot point! And it's fully in keeping with Jar Jar's personality to have been the person who did so.

Yes, but what's not in keeping with any sense of reason is that he would have ever had that power to begin with.

While Jar Jar may have been their friend, it's pretty obvious, even to the people that like him that he's a bumbling buffoon.

The fact that Padme appointed him as her duly appointed replacement when she went into hiding, with all of her senatorial power, is beyond ridiculous. That character should never have been in the position to effect the plot the way he did.

Also: remember when Luke went into that cave and learned that the only difference between Luke and Darth Vader were the choices each of them had made? Who told Luke _not to go into that cave_? Yup. Yoda.

Yoda didn't tell him not to go into the cave. He told him not to bring his weapons.

the Yoda as established in the OT would never have acted in the way prequel yoda does. Such character dissonance is but a part of how badly George understood the appeal of his license.

Is it not reasonable to think that, because of how things turned out in the prequels is the reason WHY Yoda acts completely differently in the OT?

Yes, he's like a different character in the PT. And everything he ever cared about is destroyed. That seems like a pretty good motivation to become a completely different person.

The scene where Yoda realizes what is happening to the jedi is for me one of the two or three most emotional scenes in all of Star Wars. And to get that performance out of a CG character is amazing.

CG characters tend to outpefrorm most live actors >_>

Grievous and Yoda one-handedly outperform 2\3 of the cast.

I prefer muppet Yoda to CGI Yoda, thank you very much. :)

I liked it but....my gf's response to "a bigger death star" pretty much sums it up the film retreads the OT way too much ...there is paying homage and there is stagnation/lack of creativity. The stuff they did that was new (finn, rey, poe) etc was great but following the formula of the originals right down to the basic plot outlines was a bit much.

The space battle aspect was really underwhelming ....

The space battle aspect was really underwhelming ....

I think that, to the people on this forum at least, no amount of space battle would have been sufficient.

The Starkiller base was so incidental to the actual story, I'm surprised people are make a big fuss about it.

yeah.. couldn't really give an eff if the deathstar3 blows up or not..

the movie had it's highlight 10min before that. on a brigde.

they should have reversed that.. yet another deathstar blows up (again), han and kylo meet somewhere else, then stabby-stab-stab, movie finished. crowd sits there in shock and I would have said.. well, the movie-was-so-so, the ending was epic!

but no...

oh well. could have been (way!) worse.

Yet it was not enough to be considered EXISTING.

It's like a "basic core game" compared to 4 games of Team Epic.

worth nothing except for a kick to JJ arse!

Now I wonder (because I've only played a handfull of times) do any of you X-wing players look at a star wars space battle and go: "Two TIE's and vader in a TiE advanced? who flies that list?" or " No plapatine in the shuttle? NOOBS!" when you watch the movies?

So bigger is not always better, huh? :)

Apparantly only in the case of deathstars lol

So few new ships in the movie. We've already pretty much got everything but the three new shuttles, even though I highly doubt the troop shuttle would be worthy enough to be added.

The only use I could see is as a true transport, so with a bunch of crew slots (like, 5 of them) and some nice defenses. Imagine the fun the "Schooling Bus" could have.

If someone gets JJ hooked on X-Wing I'm sure we'll see Whisper and Corran Horn duking it out once The Force Is Still Awake hits.

possible title for Ep.8: "The force gets itself a coffee" (darkside/with milk/with sugar)

I thought it was going to be "The Force looks at its alarm, presses snooze and goes back to sleep"...
