I can't find a job, but this guy HAS to buy a Raider so he can run his Tie Advanced? I thought it was funny at first, but now I wish I had the food in my stomach to throw up...

I have the money and a huge game room. That is not my point.,.this is not about me, but the less fortunate they prey upon who get into the game and find they can't keep up. I am not rich mind you but have at least a 20k collections of games--I am old and have had more time than some of you. I genuinely feel bad for the poor college students who get sucked into this game and become bitter after all the work they put in. It is a shame....a crooked one.

If you post your resume to a Google doc and PM me a login I get you a job in 8 weeks making what you had before within 40 mins with the same benefits or better if you live in a city over 250k people. Veterans will not fix the Defender enough for competitive play.

So you don't need it for competitive play, that means it is not a greedy scam. It's a pack with new options for casual gamers, because this is a very casual friendly game.

I can see myself throwing down a red Defender/D with a Flechette or Ion cannon mixed in with some points efficient ships like a couple Royal Guard pilots with upgrades, so I can have 3 red ships on the table, or maybe some named TIE fighters or a single large ship. I plan to have fun with it but not for a moment do I believe Defenders will replace TLT Y-wings or Interceptors on the tournament scene.

If you want to see a really shady business model, look at heroclix.

As for the OP: I understand your complaint, but here is another way to look at it. At least they are fixing things that are broke. Some game companies doesn't fix them at all and make your collection useless or some of them make you buy an entire new game which makes your old collection obsolete.

I for one prefer that they can fix issues, sure you have to buy more stuff, but with any game you have to buy more stuff. It's what the gaming industry is all about. They always have new releases thats the way it works.

I just came here to say Defenders with titles are insane. That, and home grown garlic sliced into uneven bits does wonders for turkeys.

Imp Vets will be my next purchase. I'm excited for wave 8, but the Bomber and Dedender are very dear to my heart from my days as a pilot for the Empire. I have a budget of around 30-45 bucks a month on X-wing stuff and I have only purchased any single expansions once so far. I'm not really into the competative team but I do understand why certain lists and ships are prefered over others for play.

FFG is a game company and is for profit. They also seek to put out quality product and keep its customer base happy. Sometimes a release might have an unforeseen affect on the competative scene and this is eventually addressed with FAQ rulings or 'fixes' in future releases to make old models more viable in the current tournament venue. This, I believe, is the best business model at this time for this company and for the customers. Competative play is always at a premium. Casual play never requires any purchases other than an initial buy in and buying what ever expansions are nostalgic enough to interest you.

I will enjoy flying the new defenders and bombers and shuttles. I don't believe it was FFG's intent to sell 'broken' expansions, only fun ships that seemed to be good additions to be game. If anything is broken right out of the box it is the manner in which we have forced ourselves to play. Why can't we have fun playing to with Star Wars space ships anymore?

(The OP has recanted several times on his viewpoint so this isn't directed at him at all. This is just about my feelings and my enthusiasm about an expansion that enhances the gameplay of two ships I love and fly already.)

The Raider is a different problem altogether, since the majority of that pack can only be used for Epic, which a lot of people don't play.

Imperial Veterans is probably the best put together expansion this game has ever had, only rivaled by Rebel Aces and Most Wanted. There's barely a bad card in here, and pretty much every one of them opens up new options for ships a lot of people already have. And hey, if they don't have any, they get two very viable ships more or less ready to be played right of the box. Honestly, if I knew someone getting into the game looking to play Imperials, I'd recommend Imperial Veterans as their second purchase after the core set.

Hm, sell stuff specifically designed for one ship with different ships. Because that makes sense. If you only have one Defender, you'll be able to fly not one, but TWO. Thats TWO Defenders. With fixes.

To me the Imperial Veterans pack is FFG doing what it should have done in the first place. Release sweet variant models with the cards that make them good again.

The Raider and Ghozanti are FFG screwing the pooch, as they make you buy something super expensive for a game you probably aren't playing to fix models in X Wing. When they stop being stupid and start selling those X Wing cards with X Wing models I'll be happy to pick them up.
