I feel like i am the only one, but i really likes the M-3A interceptor.

No, evidently you're not. I bought a couple when they first came out and I've had good results with them. Admittedly, I only got them for the Mangler Cannon cards, and I didn't really like the look of the models that much, but they have proved me wrong and are cheap firepower when they're armed with the Mangler. I haven't tried the named pilots as yet, as I tend towards different ships for named pilots. But on the whole, I've been pleasantly surprised and rewarded for using the M3-As.

They're not bad.

Serissu would have been decent but not broken if her ability affected herself.

Same IMHO goes for Howlrunner and Jonus ... but fine.

Its that the OTHERS around them are 'inspired' by their presence and thus better.

I think when the Scyk first came out, people looked to load up with a Scyk Cannon swarm. It seems if you find a ship that works, you spam it as much as you can in a list to club someone over the head with it's efficiency. Well, the Scyk doesn't work well like that and everyone declared it broken.

It came out at the same time as Autothrusters and if a 3 agility ship doesn't have Autoincludes, it's not worth it.....to some people. Everything has to have Autothrusters or it sucks.

I've always stated that the Scyk does best as 1-2 in a list with other threats. It hurt as the Kihraxz wasn't out yet and fills in for some better, cheap threats. Now that there are other Scum threats besides Aces, it's got a place, but everyone has written it off as being bad with not really giving it a chance. If you have some other ships that can do more damage, you probably won't fire at Laetin, which then is usually free to fire at something important with an Ion Cannon. If you focus on Laetin, it doesn't mean you will destroy him and it means the rest of your list can do it's worst.

I think Laetin (who is a he) is not really a glass cannon. If he had an EPT, he would be one of those slightly broken ships that you ALWAYS see in lists...like Soontir Fel. I mean, how many Imperial players just start with Soontir Fel for their list? I'm glad Laetin isn't like that. With 3 green dice and a Focus, the chances are pretty good that you can evade the first shot fired at you. Exceptions are 4 red dice, but hey, it's not crazy to evade the first shot. After that, it just gets easier to evade.

Have you tried Laetin with Torkil Mux? I'd think that the ability to turn one of their heavy hitters into firing last would always work well with Laetin as it's harder to focus fire if he gets more Evades up there.

If you place a big rock at R3+R3 on the left and right sides of your board edge you can create a massive asteroid-free zone within which you can use your Kihraxz and Scyk swarm. Hard 1, hard 1, hard 1, hard 1, and just wait until your opponent loses patience and jousts you. Then you pounce. And they develop a back ache because they're reaching all the way across the table for 75 minutes.

What an idea for an alternative obstacle - clouds/nebula: obscure line of sight, no ill effects from flying through them.

I'd rather see a 0-point "Scyk Only" modification that has the same effect as Autothrusters with no requirement of needing the boost action. It takes care of the over-costing issue of the ship and would be usable on the Heavy Scyks.

I think Tractor Beam is going to help this ship shine. The Scyk's only advantage over the other cheap ships (z-95s, TFs) is the ability to take a cannon. Previous cannons either made the Scyk too expensive for its fragility (HL and Mangler) or weren't powerful enough (Flechette, Ion).

While the Tractor Beam won't do any damage, it is cheap enough that it justifies including it. The TB will be great against higher agility ships and can be ignored for the normal attack against low agility ones. Scyks with TBs will make excellent cheap fillers for scum list moving forward.

This ship need boost. A title which allowed you take another title and gives you boost.

You get boost for 0 pt, and you can still take the Heavy Scyk Title also.

Fixed and cool because no other ship has this ability to take two titles.

I have personally witnessed a 5 swarm of these with manglers just dismantle an interceptor list and nearly win against a Deci-soontir list. As others have said they are pro-level flyers and one mistake will end your day. That being said 4-5 manglers on a single target will smoke almost any small ship in one volley. Their biggest downfall imo is the fact they must be played so stone cold that a pilot with that given skill could annihilate with a stronger crew and if facing an even opponent you will be relying on luck. They are a labor of love and if that ship is your favorite then it is the best for you :)

This was my original thought as well, but given the nature of the Defender fix, I am now hoping we get two 'fixes' for the Scyk.

First there are 'light' scyks that get something either like 'free autothrusters' or similar to the x-7 title for the defender.

Then there is the 'heavy' scyk that gets something, perhaps a 0 point mod that can only be equipped with the heavy title that makes it more durable (it is heavy afterall!)

I have tried Serissu with Elusiveness on occasion. As long as she has a cannon and stays at range 3 it works pretty well. Because you can use it to avoid that 1 damage that always seems to get through. You need someone with Wingman, but it does work
