Vader's Finest Skirmish Podcast

By kingargyle, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Our fourth episode (a buyer's guide and our impressions of the errata) has been released here.

We appreciate the support (whether that's positive or negative; criticism helps us grow so we can bring you all exactly what you want) you guys have given us more than we can express. If you have anything you want to talk to us about this latest episode feel free to do it here, on the Team Covenant website, on our Facebook page, or wherever you feel the most comfortable. We'd love to hear more from you all.

Love your stuff, but I have a hard time searching for Imperial Assault articles on your site to read. Under blogs, if I search "Imperial Assault" it only shows four results, the newest being 11 months ago. I know you have more stuff than that, I just have a hard time finding it.

Any advice?

When you say "our site" what do you mean? The Team Covenant page? Hmm...this link should take you to a list of everything we've posted on the Team Covenant website. Unfortunately there isn't a way to sort by blogs/podcasts there, but everything with "Companion" in the title is a blog. Right now we've only got the blogs that directly tie to episodes, but soon (as in, related to the episode we just posted, actually) the blogs will be a little more side content rather than just re-stating of podcasts.

I went to that link, but it just sent me back here. Then I clicked and it sent me to Vader's Finest, which is great.

The site I've gone to is http://teamcovenant.com/, then I click "read" up top, then search for Imperial Assault. That's where I've gotten lost. Looking forward to your other content as well.

You guys did a great job on TFA special episode, could you do a special episode on the 3 campaigns?

That link should be working now. For some reason, searching by game using that functionality of the Team Covenant website doesn't work as expected right now. I'm not sure when they'll have it completely fixed, but I've heard that it'll be sooner than later. Going to teamcovenant.com/vadersfinest will have a list of everything we've published on that site, again not divided based on podcast or blog, so you may have to do more sifting.

We actually plan on doing in-depth coverage of the campaigns at some point, we would just like to get more experience with them before we do so. It'll likely be part of that Outer Rim side series.

Yeah Team Covenant is working on a fix in their next web site update to address the issue of blog articiles not showing up in the Tags feeds appropriately.

I really love the podcast! As a new player, the buyer's guide was especially useful and helped me decide to go pick up a few things at my LGS (Storm troopers and Sabateurs).

Where are you guys getting the awesome music? And do you plan on drinking any wit beer? :)

Our intro and outro music is produced by a great guy on SoundCloud named DJ AG. We always link to his profile in the descriptions of our podcast posts. We will definitely do witbier once we stop having Hoth-like conditions locally! We'll eventually start doing things other than beer as well. We...might like Scotch a fair amount, too.

Bourbon isn't bad for the winter either :)

Another great episode guys. The only thing I would recommend adding would be an outline of the show, with time stamps for when you hit certain topics. Certainly not required, but a nice feature.

Also, potential topic: I just picked up Return to Hoth as suggested in the buyers guide and was surprised to discover that there was only one of each of the grey and red snow trooper cards in the box, same with the HKs, and same with the Royal Guard in the starter. So which sets other than the Saboteurs would you all consider picking up multiples of, if any?

Here's really hoping you have another podcast by Saturday. I have a ton of outside work to do and I'd love to listen to you all blather on about my favorite hobby. :D

Just a comment from a new skirmish player: your command card discussion covered how good certain cards are but little about how actually construct a command deck effectively, unless the whole of the strategy is "include as many cards as you can that we listed" but even leaves much unknown when having to choose between two equally tiered choices. Do you have tips for the strategy of creating a deck?

When 4x4 ruled, Bodyguard was the best command card in the game. If a viable spammable Guardian unit comes back to the game, then it should be seen again.

So probably not worth it with a single Chewbacca or RG unit out there?

Just listened to episode 5 and it ended at 24:53. cut off mid sentence. maybe it's just my device but thought I'd give you a heads up.

We haven't found that we've missed having a second set of Snowtroopers, but we definitely needed more HKs. Having multiple sets of Royal Guards isn't really necessary anymore. For sure we'd recommend a second Hoth box and a second Saboteur...and that's probably it right now. I'll admit I'm excited to try double Bantha Rider.

I really enjoy your work, guys. I love that you guys are treating Imp Assault with this kind of care.

By the way, isn't it pronounced "gren-a-deer"? Thanks, and looking forward to episode 6.

We went ahead and uploaded the episode early, Boba Rick. Hope you enjoy! We'll try and release late Friday/early Saturday from now on as well.

By the way: Great show ... again!

Weirds me out every time I listen since you guys use the same music as Back To Dials. I have to check every time I didn't start the wrong podcast.
